Has anyone got any experience of Northwick Park rehab centre and if so what was your opinion?

My dad has been offered a bed there but we were waiting for a bed at RNRU at the Homerton...this one has come up first and is further away from where we live but don’t know whether to go for the bed at Northwick Park or wait a few more weeks for a bed at Homerton 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes of course it’s more important for him to start the rehab. Just we had been told that RNRU was the best and had done lots of research on it, whereas we don’t know so much about Northwick Park so just trying to find out more info before he may be moved there.

Hello Lauren,

I spent three months in Northwick Park following my Brain Stem Stroke on August 11th last year . I’m yet to post about it as it takes me so long to type.

I was also nervous about going there but I found it very good. Each patient is given a schedule each week of different sessions Mon-Fri Physio is a daily one. They also worked with me to get my tracheostomy removed. You are also assigned a team of 4 specialists.

Weekends were the worst part as not much happened. If you are doing well you can go downstairs and get a coffee or even some fresh air which was my favourite thing to do.

I was also waiting for a bed nearer home and one came up here. I hope your dad continues well on his road to recovery.

Best wishes, Jo X x

You’re more than welcome.

My stroke was very severe. I’m unable to walk and have many other issues but I’m here. My stroke was caused by an inoperable AVM on my brain stem.

How awful for you but despite all your issues you are here and you are doing well and will hopefully continue to do so! X
