Hi everyone,

My husband suffered a brain injury 3 months ago after suffering from Encephalitis..he’s 55 and I’m 51..and how quickly life has changed!

I’m here really just to find other people just to chat to in similar situations..as since this has happened I’ve found little support and it’s always good to talk 😁

Hi Willow. I’m afraid I’m not in any position to help, except to say everyone on here is brilliant and you will find they will help in any way they can. I’m just replying as I’m surprised you haven’t had any replies yet. Good luck with your “new” life and best wishes for you and your husband.

Hi Willow,Welcome to the group.

I amongst the injured, not encephalitis though, and also a support person for someone with a disability that is not a brain injury.

There are people on here who are in a similar boat re challanges. They will catch upwith you soon.

You can call Headway, the number is inapinned post on the right. They sound good as a helpline. Do not forget that you as a family member alao need support, so don't hesitate to ask them what might help you as well. (I do not live in the UK and dnot have the Headway system here, so go by what orhers have said.)

I am sorry life has dealt you and your husband this hand. This is not a group anyone really wants to have to join... so it seems a littelstrange to welcome you , but I will anyway. People here will share info, support you in your struggles, and even listen to you have a good rant. It's hard for people not going through some version of it to get it. Here, even if we don't have the exact same thing we get the struggle.

Best wishes Leaf

Hi Willow, I am an encephalitis brain injury survivor too. I suffered the brain infection in jan 20 and wow how life changes. It is very rare so very little knowledge and support locally but the encephalitis society is a great help so suggest checking them out. We have virtual gatherings too. We have world encephalitis day on 22nd Feb and last year I was interviewed on BBC radio. What type of encephalitis did your husband have? Please just take 1 day at a time and be patient. I'm still finding and understanding my new normal and don't fell like the old me anymore and never well but am learning to accept the me I am now. Sending hugs. Here to chat anytime.
