Missed you first time round Stickysheep but good to see you're settling in ! My Bi and AF came in reverse order to yours but I really do get how your AF was missed.
I was assessed by a cardio consultant who recommended ablation for the SVT I'd had for years. I refused it as I knew it wasn't SVT (under control for years with meds, and different symptoms). On my 5th visit to A&E a none-cardiology doctor admitted me and AF was diagnosed. I had several attacks on the ward and was prescribed Bisoprolol and Rivaroxaban thinners. Also told to continue the Flecainide I take for SVT.
I still have flutters and breathlessness but mainly cope, and can take an extra Flecainide (known as 'Pill in the pocket' for severe or persistent attacks). I also got great support from the HealthUnlocked AF forum when first diagnosed.
So it's a welcome from me too (and a 'Nice one' to your friend Karen). Stay around m'love. 🙂 Cat x
