Morning all..went for my visit yesterday and son sleeping.....he had had some therapy(legs, arms etc) and they put him in shower which he likes,so he was tired.didn't matter he looked so peaceful.I put body lotion on him, tidyied his things, had a coffee, talked to nurses etc.then it was time for me to go.at 7.30 I get the messenger call.I've got to say socks was very confused by it all,but he came good and barked when I told him to say hello to "dad"! Son got very animated(agitated?) And was waving the dogs penguin about that much that he dropped it and I had to ring them to pick it up for him!...while I'm writing this, unit just rang son has pulled out his Tracy tube early this morning, theve sent him back to James cook just to see if it needs replacing, the nurse said he was breathing OK without it.

Oh good news about the breathing and the shower lol onwards and upwards
A good visit, socks happy, son happy, the tracky minor, if he is breathing ok, they may try a different system. All positive xx
Hi D so happy to read your post. We have had lots of visits where our son has been fast asleep (fatigue is a large part of recovery process , sleep is good). Like you we don’t mind at all just being there with them is all you need. Glad Socks managed to give his greeting! Maybe they will leave trachy out if your son is breathing well on his own which will be another step forward. I am sure you are a lot more settled after these couple of visits and your FaceTime calls. Thinking of you. Nanapal x
It was strange nan..they keep him James cook for 6 hours or maybe overnight just for observation.he was I'm told stressed but managed to breathe alonexx
It’s good they are observing how he is managing breathing on his own, 🤞he doesn’t need another one or as Pairofboots said try some other method if needed. It is so hard not to overthink these things but the fact he knew it wasn’t comfortable and took action to remove it himself sounds like a positive action to me. Keep focused D as unfortunately ups and downs seem par for the course for us both. I agree with you how you find yourself looking at your son and taking in details of them - we probably haven’t looked at them in this concentrated way since they were babies! As ever best wishes Nanapal. x
All adding up to good progress D. and so good that Socks did his bit too. Really good news ; thanks for update m'love... xx
Hiya lovely lady...unit gave me wrong ward number for hospital,( thought orthopedics was strange)...?I think he must have been unsettled after such a long sleep and then face time call.you know cat he was very agitated.his tube and around area was red, they said allergic reaction to dressing,I have a few niggling thoughts, you know?but he pulled it out,it was bothering him, good for him I say..socks was very confused, but did a good job, let's just say emotional xxx
I'm told my hands were permanently bandaged to keep me from repeatedly pulling out tubes ; it's a natural instinct wanting to rid ourselves of restrictive apparatus, especially when it's chafing or itching. I used to undo the bandages with my teeth and unravel them, so nurses used more & more bandage 'til my hands looked like white footballs. My daughter said she didn't know whether to laugh or cry !
You're bound to worry ; I think we're on high alert for anything out of the ordinary, but 9 times out of 10 it's just regular stuff for nursing staff.
You're doing great D. Look after yourself......xx
Hi love, listening to radio 2 Elaine Paige show tunes my thing?this is tough you know...I had a runaround yesterday for sure, sometimes I actually think I've gone mad?socks is next door with neighbours grandkids, they playing in "Wendy house" .they pulling and pushing him he doesn't mind..he such a good boy just very shouty..😂😂
Amazing voice Elaine Paige. I still get chills from 'Don't cry for me Argentina' (saw it at Palace theatre Manchester).
Well I'm glad you're getting some respite D if it's only listening to the radio........ I don't doubt your anxiety levels feel like madness ! I only hope you'll laugh with your son before long, as I do most days with my son & daughter now that awful period is behind them.
Sox being 'very shouty' made me laugh ; bless him. 🐕 xx
Hi Dogsabighelp, I agree with all the above x
Dear Dosabighelp,
I haven't 'spoken' to you, in ages....SORRY! However I'm, extremely glad, that your Son appears- at least- a 'Bit' Better. It IS a Very Long Road, I'm afraid, however that he removed a Breathing Tube- which he doesn't 'seem to need'- is Good News.
Small, but significant, Steps... the Shower too, although he was probably Well Supported, by the Staff- good news 'non the less' though.
Our Prayers are with, you all, God Bless
AndrewT
