So,still have not heard from hospital since consultant rang on Monday...police investigation completed but nothing done as the supervising officer has been absent due to covid(again you would have thought I may have been told of this?)I've been messed about fobbed off and treated without respect/ humility for three months now.I'm tired of it.I seem to be going around in circles trying to get answers, information coming up against brick wall every time.im told this supervising officer will look at report and make a decision? About what?will it change anything?will it bring back the man that left this house on 23/12? Of course it won't.I expect the end result will cause me more pain and anxiety. There has to be a better system in place for the people that have to deal with the realities of these situations.I feel like a hamster on a wheel...

I really feel for you D. It seems we're at the worst possible time since the war regarding either healthcare or justice. Since the onset of Covid, and despite depleted numbers from government cutbacks, the police are struggling to deal with the increase in domestic violence plus the many illegal gatherings, apart from all other crimes.

Same with the NHS. One of my first thoughts in the first Covid lockdown was how many of us would suffer as a result of neglect from cancellation of appointments, treatments and surgery for other serious conditions, and it's still happening big-time ; nobody's fault apart this government's.

I've lost two close cousins and a dear friend since Christmas. One died from Covid and the other two from lack of treatment ; one for cancer and the other took her life after being denied mental health care. And of course many of us here are struggling with neglected health issues.

It's an unprecedented time in our history and pretty terrifying for those of us struggling to be heard. Please pay attention to your own health m'love. You need to to keep strong during your awful battle with bureaucracy, so please do all you can to eat and sleep well and take any help offered. I do hope you'll hear something promising soon ! xx

Oh poor boy D ; I hope the side effects are minimal ! I don't know much about botox but lets hope it'll make a difference to his mobility and they can alleviate any side effects.

Low blood pressure ? The only time mine was low was after being prescribed excessive beta blockers for normally high BP. Do you have meds for BP ? x

Hi D, our son has severe spasticity in all four limbs. Whilst he has been in rehabilitation unit he has had one course of Botox injections into both of his legs which does relax the muscles. This then makes it much easier for the physios to help him. Our son has had castes made of his legs and splints made which he wears for four hour periods which are stretching (slowly but surely)his leg muscles and straightening his legs which were very drawn up. They concentrated on his legs first as they were worse than his arms but he is due a further dose ( the benefits wear off around 12 weeks) which is going to be split 50/50 between all four limbs this time. They warned us of possible side effects but luckily he didn’t get any. 🤞🏽your son also only experiences the benefits the Botox brings.

We had an update on our son this morning- they managed to transfer him into a wheelchair in order to weigh him. As this didn’t cause him any discomfort/ distress ( pressure sore still healing) they actually took him out into garden area for a short period - first time in the fresh air since September. Physio said he was all smiles she even took a couple of photos on their iPad. She couldn’t send them to us (hospital confidentiality) but we will see them on our visit this Sunday - this has made our day/ week/ month!

Hang on in there D - take each day as it comes and deal with it the best way you can and please look after yourself. Best wishes Nanapal. x

So pleased for you n.it must have been wonderful for him being outside.let's hope it gives him a much needed boost.reminds me of a very old film think it was called" twice round the daffodils" about soldiers injured and in hospital during the war.if they could walk around the daffodils in the garden they knew they were better!

It seems like you are being put through every stress possible. Unfortunately these situations are messy.

I did think that you had agreed a regular contact with the Dr? I might be wrong. It appears nanapal is going to be a good alli around the current care your son is receiving. It sounds like they have trod the path you are on.

You would think that the police would be more on top of the communication, but I know with my own experience, some year's back, that they are under manned, in the issue I had, the officer attended on his day off. Grateful as I was, I did feel sorry for disturbing his time off. Obviously covid is a bit different. The criminal justice system moves at its own pace, and it can appear cold and uncaring. Unfortunately the police can't turn the clock back, I wish they could.

It sounds like the hospital is trying to limit any adverse recovery, which is positive.

Frustration, stress, anxiety, isn't good for your health, it's good that you can express your feelings, but hold on to the bit you can control, there are so many things that at this point you can't affect, and you need to keep snowy well, and yourself well.

Take care x
