Hi. I can't help myself, but I think the Headway helpline probably could. They are very good. Their number is 0808 800 2244. I wish you all the best. 🙂🌸

The exposed area will be highly sensitive and I'm sure you'll be feeling vulnerable at this time. I've heard so many reports from folk here telling of this waiting period and the disturbing sensations and discomfort they experience. But it's usually a big relief, both physically and psychologically, once the infection or other issue is resolved and the bone flap is finally replaced.

Such an invasive procedure is bound to disrupt nerves & tissue and create bruising, so I gather the unusual sensations and the tenderness will prevail until the cranioplasty is fully knitted and healed. If you're really unnerved by it though Bo, maybe contact the neuro clinic for reassurance and advice ; there's usually an experienced practice nurse who can explain the issues clearly but who will call you in if she feels there's cause for concern.

I hope you'll soon have this sorted once you've proved fully free of infection.

Best wishes, Cat x
