Did anyone watch the 2nd episode, i saw it on catch up.

Was very interested to see the patients recuperating and sitting quietly with eyes closed.

I still do that such a lot, made me realise just how badly i was affected. If these people could return to work after a few months and here i am 8 years on having trouble functioning daily on a regular basis!!!

Yes I saw it Janet, and I had the same reaction of .........'What ? they're compass mentis after a couple of days and home within a week!'.......Has brain surgery advanced so much since we were treated ?

But, thinking on, there'll be a massive difference between the damage done by hydrocephalus or a bleed, and a successful, organised, controlled procedure.

I have to admit to averting my eyes slightly during the 'squishy' close-ups. But although I've heard of conscious brain surgery it's the first time I've seen it performed ; it totally makes sense and fascinating to watch.

I guess the description of slightly overstepping the warning signs of a patient's failing responses during surgery is typical of the delicate balance of judgement these brilliant surgeons face regularly !

And the neuropsychology lady's comment about practice/practice/practice 'til the plasticity works its magic made me smile.

I hadn't realised there are only two episodes 😯 ; I've been looking forward to more. 🤔 Love Eileen xxx

Hello! Would you mind sharing which program this is and where I can watch it? Thanks :)

Think it refers to a BBC documentary on neuroscience. Have to admit I saw the trailer but missed it. No doubt it will be available on Iplayer.

Hi casaaurora ; the programme is titled 'Brain Surgeons: Between Life and Death' (2 separate episodes) and you'll find it on catchup on All 4.

I watched it and found it really Interesting I found it strange to watch them operating on the brain whilst the y were awake and the fact that there is still so much to learn about the brain! Im looking forward to the next program and to add hi Eileen I hope your feeling well take care david xx

Hi David ; I almost missed your post ! I'm doing ok apart from the usual creaks and rusty bits ! I've been mostly isolating apart from doing some jobs in the garden at my daughter's new house (made a new path and shed door along with some digging & planting).

How have you been throughout this weird period in history ? ...... I hope you've been managing to keep your spirits up ?

Yes I watched it on record. Likewise I was surprised at the way they came through after a few days. Two years on and still struggling
