Hello Friends,
About a month ago I wrote a post regarding my brothers condition of hypoxic injury after a heart attack.
The medical report actually calls it anoxic brain injury. He has been battling two infections, aspiration pneumonia which was an after effect of the cpr. That was cleared. Pseudonomas is another one. This one has reoccurred. It's quite stubborn. He's been on and off antibiotics for the past 30 days.
We managed to travel with him back to Kenya from Dubai where he was. His GCS is at 11 now which is an improvement considering that he was admitted at a GCS of 3 on 10th January. He receives daily physiotherapy. He can recognize people especially family and friends and can mouth out names and words in general. He's tracheostomized so he's not able to talk yet.
His memory seems intact as he could remember his brother's name and son even when he wasn't around. He can mouth out words of the Grace and he can say hi,bye goodnight.
I feel like other than the infections, he could improve much more.
We're planning to get him home based care to reduce risk of infection. We're scouting for a good nurse and a physiotherapist. Those two are critical amongst others in ensuring he recovers.
He's feeding on tube and is on a catheter.
