Hi all I'm 3 weeks post surgery from having my aneurysm coiled. The op went well and I left hospital the next day. 2 days later I was woke with a bad headache and numbness in my hand and face. I was readmitted to hospital and the scan and mri came back clear so after 6 days I was allowed home. I m still having headaches and numb feeling in my face arm and foot. Has anyone else had this after surgery and how long is recovery please x

Hi Tinker. I had a burst aneurism coiled in Dec 2011 and can remember various uncomfortable sensations and prolonged, intense headaches for a few weeks afterwards.

It's good you've had a further scan to rule out complications and I'm guessing your numb & tingling sensations are a result of nerve damage from the procedure. Hope the symptoms settle down before long m'dear… Cat x

Yes all normal, headaches with me lasted 6 months, still get the odd one every now and again( 10 months on). It's changed me totally, I have very little patience, get annoyed easily have unbelievable lethargy ( soul destroying). I am trying to re learn everything I used to know. My memory is shot to pieces and I'm hard work to be around. I've isolated myself because of my issues. Bearing in mind when I left hospital I was struggling to walk. I'm still recovering and expect to be for at least another 12 months ( then re address where I'm up to). The main thing is rest and sleep, don't fight it, I still have good days then bad days. My sleep pattern goes from good too absolutely wrecked. Hope this helps I had subarachnoid heamorrage Jan 28th 2019 which was coiled.

Hi there, headaches are a side effect but will get less in time. Try and relax, meditate, I got massages done on my feet and hands and this really helped with my blood circulation. You can check my YouTube videos of recovery link here : youtu.be/qM7qgw79k_o

Hi I had one of five brain aneurysms coiled June 2016. The first attempt the surgeon tried to fit a coil made from nickel which I’m allergic too. After waiting a year and half I was then fitted with a platinum coil after a very long 7 hour surgery. Since my operation I haven’t felt the same. I suffer from chronic daily migraine headaches, constant dizziness and have had numbness in my face arm and leg. I’ve seen a neurologist trying over twelve different medications which I was unable to tolerate and a gamma core device which did not work either. I feel since my surgery there has been a lack of care from the neurosurgery at QEHG, and the one time since my operation I was seen by the consultant and aired my worries and concerns how I was feeling I have been ignored.
