I just wanted to write an update for all your lovely people who took the time to share your stories with me. Well it’s 5 weeks today since our world collapsed into a million pieces but I’m absolutely astounded by my husband’s determination, he was moved to a rehab ward on Monday, he is able to hold a conversation with us ( when tired doesn’t make any sense ) his appetite is good , his core strength is still there , he needs physio on his legs, yesterday was his first session in the gym, they were amazed that Carl cycled for 15 mins on tension 5 ! He’s been laid in bed five weeks , I feel excited but I also know we have a long way to go, but were he is today from 5 weeks ago is astonishing ( we thought he was going to leave us. I just wanted to share my update because I know I held on to positives in my darkest hours x
What a long way your man has come in such a short time. The saying "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" has certainly been the case for me & my family and it looks like Carl is progressing faster than many. I struggled to walk at 5 weeks too, but it comes with time, patience and exercise.
I'm so happy you've survived the scariest part m'dear and can look forward to better days ahead for both of you. Best wishes for continued progress..... Cat x
What fabulous news I'm so so pleased for you both... Excellent signs of recovery... Yes a long way to go... But it's so important to recognise and celebrate the successes... Its amazing what can happen in 5 weeks.... Keep going. Very best wishes! X
I'd like to echo all the other advice given here. Just remember that it's a marathon, not a sprint. There will be good and bad times ahead - but just keep on, keeping on.
All the best to you, Carl and your family and friends.
