Pumpkin Carving and Halloween Party

Today, at 'My' Headway, we did Pumpkin Carving this afternoon. I carved an, actually Very Fresh Smelling, medium/ small Pumpkin. I also Retrieved, a good number, of the seeds which I took Home. I live in a, Supported Living Flat, and we had a Halloween Party this evening. I took the Carved Pumpkin, in which I placed a torch, along with the Pumpkin Seeds that I had roasted.

I took my Colour Changing rope lights, complete with the USB mains adapter plug, in addition to the carved pumpkin. The staff had decorated the, 'Spare' flat, with posters, wall hangings, 'spiders' webs, various 'creepy crawlies' and so on.

The food was delicious a, very good, selection of sandwiches, crisps, nuts, sausage rolls and the like, all washed down with a, Seemingly Endless, selection of fizzy drinks. A game of 'Who am I' followed along with some dancing- all most enjoyable. It's not often that we can ALL, have a 'get together', so a Good Time WAS had by all. (I ensured that Sean & Leanne, who couldn't attend, were taken a plate of food each.)

Did anyone else have a Party/ Get Together?

No Andrew ; I had quite a full-on day with several train journeys and a dental procedure, so really shattered this evening. But just made it home in time to backlight the large scary witches cat on the front room windowsill and fill the treats bowl before the little monsters came ringing the doorbell in great numbers.

Kids had some amazing costumes and visits were all over in time for me to make a meal and flop into bed at 8pm 🥴

Sounds like yours was a fun day & in the full spirit of Halloween..... well done ! x

Struggling at the moment. I had surgery on my knee about 6 weeks ago and I fell into the small percentage of people where the surgery makes it worse.

As you have probably found as well, the change in weather over the last few weeks from warm dry to the cold and damp isn't helping.

But like most of us, we just have to make the best of things and do what we can when we can. I can't stand or carry much but can sit down and potter about and plan ahead. So in the green house poppies, sweet pea, broad beans, onions, garlic etc. are all planted for next year.

I don't envy you with those train journeys one of those things that was previously taken for granted but now mentally and physically draining.

All the best

Yes I've really struggled this past few weeks with mobility. Unfortunately it coincides with my daughter's house move. I helped keep removal charges down by taking everything I could in my car and lost count of how many journeys, plus all the lugging. So it it's been mostly just the two of us...…...you'll appreciate what that's done to my joints...…

I'm really sorry your op wasn't successful Sos ; I'll bet you were secretly hopeful beforehand for a good result, then let down big-time afterwards. Such a shame.

I found the steroid shots gave me respite for 4-5 weeks but only available 6 monthly ; then came the warning of Diabetes in some people...….so I've been going without for two years now, and allergic to all pain killers apart from Paracetamol (which as you'll know is useless). So it's, like you say, all about 'making the best of it' ! 🥺

Keep up the plant prepping m'love ; growing stuff is everything to me !

Take care….. Cat x
