The wonders of nature...

Hi all,

This actually has nothing to do with the usual brain injury questions.

However, this has a lot to do with well being. I ask you. Have you ever felt grumpy when immersered in a garden or watching a bird take flight? I bet not!

A question for all you garden lovers...I’m wondering what the name of this bush is, which has recently blossomed in my front yard. It has a subtle citrus aroma. Can you spot the bee?

Thanking you in advance.

It looks like honeysuckle, maybe a Lonicera if it has a sweet citrusy scent. Yes I spot the bee. Any prizes? Thank you for this uplifting post reminding us of those lazy hazy days of spring and summer. I can't tell you how depressing the weather is here - non-stop rain for a fortnight, its dark and dank all day!

Hi sb,

The tree is about four metres tall. Sorry, forgot to mention the height. It does look like a honeysuckle though. But it’s not.

Your prize for spotting the bee is one gold star. ⭐️

Well done! Glad you appreciated the ‘sunny’ post.

Remember that rain is good for your garden.

From the flower and palmate leaves it looks like it could be a red horse-chestnut. However the flowers don't usually smell and it usually flowers in spring.

There's a few links with pictures if you want more info. :

And you are so right about the positive effects of even a short time in the garden or watching wildlife.

Good luck with your plant identification.

Hi Ga,

Thanks for the links. They were very helpful. It certainly is a red horse- chestnut tree. It fits the description. I had never heard of it before now. It has recently blossomed as it’s Spring over here now in Australia.

Yes, even just spending a brief time in the garden or amongst wildlife, lifts your spirits immediately.🙂

If folk stopped more often to look around at nature, birds, clouds etc., I suspect we'd all be calmer, healthier & happier ! My garden is my little bit of paradise..... x

I couldn’t agree more!

You are so right. I guess your garden is currently bursting with autumn colours... 🍁 x

Glad to have been able to help.

Feeling just a bit jealous that you are well in to Spring. It being cold, wet, windy and just generally grey here; and we aren't in to winter yet.

Still, if we didn't have the winter we wouldn't appreciate the spring... :-)

in reply to Globalartichoke

I must admit that your winter can be quite bleak and chilly. It cuts through to one’s bones!

Yes. Spring is certainly appreciated after winter. That’s when nature ‘springs’ to life. 🌻
