EEG on Monday

I am due for an EEG on Monday and on checking time etc I see that it says I must eat 45 mins before the appointment or it may affect the readings. Can anyone advise me as to how much I need to eat. My appointment is at 10.30 in the morning and it will take me more than 45 mins to get to the appointment. I could have a bacon and egg breakfast about 8am but probably not as I travel to the hospital! Thanks for any advice

I'm sure that a light breakfast (egg on toast) around 9.30 would be fine. But remember to avoid caffeine as it can slightly interfere with the test. Hope all goes well Maureen….. x

Would the hospital not have a cafe? If you got there a touch early to have something? Possibly not a pint of coffee as you might at Costa/Starbucks etc.

Hospital cafe is certainly a thought. I tend to drink peppermint tea which is caffeine free. Thanks for years reply Roger

Dear Maureen,

I think Scrambled, or maybe Boiled, egg with toast- or soldiers would be fine. Just drink water, that morning though. I wouldn't Worry, about this, too much though.

Good Luck, I hope all goes well, for you.

Egg on toast seems to be the recommended. This is a first for me but not especially worried. It may impress my family and friends that I have any brain activity! I wonder sometimes 😀. Thanks for your reply.

I am going for my third one on Tues and have been told to keep away from caffeine, chocolate & anything with caffeine init.

Also was told not to sleep 8 hours before, luckily my appointment has been moved to the afternoon from a morning appointment, otherwise i would have had to get up at silly o'clock.
