Help needed regarding my son in the community

I am a Mother of a man who nearly 2 years ago was in a coma and has a brain injury. He has come along way and is now ready to move from rehab into the community. This needs very careful planning as he is still very vulnerable. We were hoping for a sheltered supported next steps living accommodation. However his Social Worker, who insisted on 2 occasions seeing my Son on a one to one has now wrote a report stating that he is not a vunerable adult and does not need an extra care and help. Therefore he will be placed in the community with no support. The outcome of this I am sure will be catastrophic. Any ideas from anybody on where we can go next with this please.

Yes we have all the team from his rehab, including a Doctor on side with completely different views to the Social Worker, on next steps for his introduction to living back into the community and the SW will not budge on her report, although many instances of how her report and thoughts were wrong or flawed were demonstrated to her. It is almost as if she is digging her heels in and will not be flexible. We are as a family totally scared for his future and absolutely devastated. We need help and advice on where to go from here.

Social workers are no good now, my son hasn’t had one since leaving hospital nearly 2 years ago I and my girls fight all the way for him

The consequences for my Son if Social Services refuse to help in finding him assisted living will be catastrophic. Is somebody’s life now so unimportant. I will fight for my Son but I need to have all help available and all sign posting on where to go next.

Hi Cotton,

My hubby went to see our MP who went over to Ukip so we never heard from him anymore. But start with MP and Doctors, make sure everything you send S.W.and All is in writing as my husband got a letter from someone who saw me 3 times and told them she left me walking!! (Miracle worker as I still can only walk 800 yards until back goes) This is all thanks to my Family. Be strict with them as they try and get away with blue murder ...Good luck to you and Son and hope everything goes well with it all..Just what you don't need at a time like this. Good Luck Cotton (my one forced my legs apart and tore my groin ) !! felt all my bones go...was in agony and she held me back !!!

Thank you, we will go to MP. All

this is because Liverpool Social Services do not want to take responsibility and neither do Cambridge CCC and Cambridge Social Services so they have put my Son in the middle as their porn in this game they wish to play. It’s all political, who pays for what and my Son is left in limbo. It’s a disgrace that could have catastrophic repercussions for my Son and they are aware of this. Nobody is talking to each other. My Son was recently highlighted re his brain injury on BBC news, the plight of his brain injury and others in his position was

spoken about by an expert in his type of brain injury and the ongoing problems they encounter. And yet my Son is deemed by a Social Worker in Liverpool to be able to function in the Community and deal with any problems he may encounter when living independently she has completely dismissed expert opinion. But as his Mother I will not allow my Son to become another statistic, which he will be if this goes unchallenged. All that is needed is for Cambridge and Liverpool talk to each other and to share the cost of his ongoing care for a period of time. So Cambridge and Liverpool wake up you both have a duty of care and you know it so stop playing games with somebody’s life. I would refer to an article on Tom and the catastrophic outcome please read this article.
