18 months in from severeRTA . My daughter sustained a severe TBI along with other injuries . She lives at home with a supportive family and we have a great treating team plus support workers (weekdays). Our solicitor and case manager are encouraging us to look into independent living ! Anyone got any advice or able to share their experiences of independent living ?

This isn't something I'm familiar with but this website looks very informative and seems to offer services in a range of areas. Hope it helps :-

Hi there, how is your daughter feeling about it? Does she feel she can manage? If she feels ready and it’s near your home where she can have support, with all other aspects such as adjustments etc taken care of, it could work! Best of luck :)

I had a RTA in 79, now epileptic, after mum died in 79,I was getting worried how I cope after my father died, dad died 2001, and I struggled on my own, with seizures getting worse, forgetting to turn gas off, electric off, etc. Social Services got involved, and I was offered a 1 bedroom flat in Hazel Court, Swansea.I have never been happier, it has 24 hr care staff, restaurant, shop, hairdressers. They have a Forget me Not club, up here.Any problems, I just press the careworkers button, and we arrange a time, they come up for a chat, problem solved,Would I recommend independent living-YES!!. Just go around the flats that do this in your area and have a look, but I love it here.

I had a severe tbi and I'm living independently in a council bungalow. I've got caters who come in and I see my family regularly. When I first did it it was v stressful, but I've got used to it now and I love having my own space that's especially set up for me, because too much family gets annoying.
