Hi, my husband had a massive stroke in December and is still in hospital, he has a tracheotomy and is fed by a rig in his tummy, he is bowel incontinent, he can’t sit up or walk so is mostly bed ridden. His mind doesn’t seem to have been affected by the stroke which was in his brain stem. Is there anyone caring for someone or been through the same type of stroke?

Hi there, my husband had a brain stem stroke in June 2016,he was in hospital for 5months, lve struggled with trying to care for him ,l have carers 4 times a day,l'm now looking for a care home as my health is suffering, things haven't changed an awful lot, he cries alot and doesn't want to live, my heart goes out to you, l still can't believe this has happened to us, if you need anyone to chat, to don't hesitate to contact me, every stroke is different, so fingers crossed, ll'l say a prayer for you, take care,
hello, where do you live? when you look for a care home for your husband, dont just read the last cqc reports, observe how the staff interact with the residents, how long it takes them to answer residents room buzzers.
make sure staff are trained to change ( does your husband have a bag )? a bag so it doesnt leak and are trained to, i think it called peg feed. these need to be kept clean to avoid infection.
have you approached your local council about funding?
