Getting back to walking soon

I posted last year about me wanting to walk 3 Yorkshire peaks with the BI group I go to. Briefly the man who runs group does not think I would manage them which is what set me off wanting to try them.

Last year he agreed to do shorter walks leading up to them. We did a 5 mile which I found easy tho a found easy tho a few did struggle and 2 didn’t manage. Next we did 10 mile in hope valley I expected to manage easy but after even the first mile all uphill I was finding it tough, after second mile still uphill I felt dizzy and had to sit down. The man who runs group asked if I wanted to go back there was no chance so I told him I’d be ok. He was doubting I’d complete the walk but knew me better than to tell me as I was determined to finish he encouraged me to eat which helped. I did manage rest of walk after that.

The man said afterwards he wasn’t doing any longer walks which I expected and understood as it had been me that struggled I am still keen to do more walks and he has said he will do another 10 mile this year.

There is some new staff now so will mean more going off starting a cycling group, gym and yoga. As the man who started me wanting to do 3 peaks is still there so we will still be doing the 10 mile hill walk at some point. Not sure when or where a few possibilities another at hope valley, one of the 3 Yorkshire peaks or the one I least want in brantingham the hills there were not too easy, we have spoken briefly about the walk which is when he said brantingham but he was in a strange awkward mood that day like not in mood to discuss it but still winding me up.

He has recently done a cycling challenge with one of service users being involved which got me thinking of me doing hill walks to train up to doing 3 Yorkshire peaks so I did mention this to him and he admitted if he believed I could manage them. So we are going to talk next week about it so hopefully get a day and place planned. I’m wanting this walk to be as challenging as last years and for me to prove I have leant from last year and will eat before and manage better hopefully will go on to longer hill walks.

its not just about walking, you need to speak to someone to work out a training and nutrition programme to build up the stamina you will need to complete the walks, but more importantly you need the all clear from your dr first.

Hi I have got other ideas national 3 peaks being one but one thing at a time. Honestly taking me long enough to convince man to do Yorkshire ones with me at some point but I won’t go off idea. Got few things to suggest to him on Tuesday hopefully agree on something’s.

Well didn’t exactly go as planned the man brought the woman who plans outings into the conversation and she is only bothered about planning outings that most people would go on. So basically we will be doing a 5 mile in Brantingham like last year. It’s clear she won’t change her mind so plan 2 is me do walks on my own then join the man on a walk doing 3 Yorkshire peaks sometime when he’s doing them.
