What do you do and where do you go when two neurologists disagree and write different diagnostic notes?

I've had the same

One says nerve dymylation done by severe b12 defiency and you've guessed it ..

Anxiety .

The last one said post concussion syndrome causing dibilitsting hradachrs snd migtsins. Fall on August and first symptoms October. All I know is I'very got a constant headache with tight skull that escalates into a migrain that csn last 14 hrs or more. Recover and start again. Misery. Housebound again at present as any movement hurts.

Sorry to hear you are so unwell. Just confusing and it also means that GPs interpret things wrong too. So stressful.

Hi deborah it's not very often that doctors agree that's the annoying thing they are supposed to go by your symptoms not guesswork! I would be inclined to ask either of the doctors to go over your case notes and see if that helps matters there may be something they are missing! Take care and get well soon 😊

Thank you for your reply, I will ask and see what they come up with next!

I am so very sorry. I would focus on asking what causes the symptom leading to your painful migraine (and what can be done to treat it) vs challenging notes.

I'd write to (or email) them both Deborah, enclosing copies of the other's notes and asking for their opinions on the differences in diagnosis. You're entitled to know the basis of the opposing views.

I had an issue last year when, after countless discussions, tests and X-rays, the consultant cardiologist gave a diagnosis requiring surgical intervention. But during yet another admittance via A&E, the ward cardiologist suspected my symptoms were a medication issue and his 'snap' diagnosis proved correct.

It was only through persistence and several A&E visits that my fears of over-medication were heard, and the heart condition is finally manageable with suitable meds. Shouting out can be embarrassing but sometimes it's necessary for getting the help we need !

Good luck Deborah.... x

Thank you cat, my MRI showed all the damage that is well documented to be caused by my chronic exposure to carbon monoxide, one neurologist says damage is non specific and another neurologist disagreed. Two neurologists, two opinions. I am, in the meantime living with all the health problems. I just feel constantly let down. It is good that you were able to get sorted, it is sad that it is down to luck that someone listens. X
