I had 17 coils , two stents and an artery occluded in June and I’ve had to learn to walk again but I can’t get rid of the dizziness and wonky eyesight . Am I expecting too much too soon and has anyone else suffered since their unruptured aneurysm was treated ?.

I believe you are Shona ! …………..I mean, 17coils …….didn't know that was even possible ; not to mention the stents !

I just had the one coil after a SAH and, though I know it's the contamination of blood in the brain which causes the most damage & after-effects, any 'tinkering' in that delicate organ is going to cause some level of disruption.

I still have balance issues after 6+years and other symptoms such as short term memory loss, noise & crowd intolerance, fatigue etc... but they're a result of the bleed. It seems common for any type of procedure, even minimally invasive, to result in temporary headaches, dizziness and visual disturbance. I think it was around the 6 month point that my eyesight started to improve after peripheral vision loss but, even then, I needed both distance and reading glasses updating.

Give your poor brain a couple more months to recover from its prodding ; it's a case of 'Wait & See' I'm afraid. I'm sure you'll have a recall appointment where you can discuss any persistent symptoms. Look after yourself m'dear………..a little more cosseting might be what's needed ! 😏 Best wishes, Cat x

Thank you Cat. Since the coiling etc was done I had another procedure done to put another stent in as the aneurysm was still growing . I’ve just been out of hospital for 3weeks so I guess I’m expecting too much too soon . I will have an mri and MRA in December so I hope I’ll be rid of the dizziness by then. Fatigue is awful but I can deal with that . I use a walker (my 4x4) when I feel I can walk a bit. I’ll just have to be more patient. Thank you Shona 🤗

I don't know how many coils I had - they had to fill an unruptured 18mm aneurysm. My op was in April - I am still having balance problems and my eyes are definitely wonky. I have had to slow down, take a day at a time. Well done for all the amazing progress you have made. x

Thank you,my family have said that I’m wanting things to be back to normal too soon . I’ll be more patient with myself now . It’s the dizziness and wonky vision that gets me down but I will behave now. I need to be kinder to myself I think . Take care and thank you 🤗🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
