Looking for ideas to help Russ. His body took the blunt of his anoxic brain injury. People who've lived it make the best resources.

Anyone have ideas that helped with hand tremors? Left hand weakness? Coordination? Balance?

Cognitively short term memory glitches?

Speech ?

Im looking for ways to help him because he doesnt get much pt/ot/st (rehab) due to the boss - insurance 👿

Any ideas would be appreciated! I want the best recovery possible for him.

Thank you 🙏❤

You know Angelia im still living with all of the above, 6 years on.

I was told that the best form of recovery is practice, practice, practice and that takes time and perseverance.

If i drop something because my hand involuntarily just opens, then i pick it up and move on.

Its time you see, we learnt all these things when we were children and it took years to lay down the pathways in our brains. When we sustain a braininjury sometimes these pathways are destroyed and have to be re-made, sometimes the pathway is dirupted and the brain has to find a way of joining that pathway up. It( the brain) can only do this if we persistently try and practice doing those things, using a physiotherapist or medical professional to help with this costs and thereby is the problem with insurance.

I dont know any quick way, i have paid and am back with a vision therapist who is working with me on my vestibular system, she costs me £65 an hour once a month but i have exercises i do daily, and i do because this is expensive and very important to me.

You may find some of these exercises if you make creative searches on the internet, when i have time i will look myself and see if i can find any of them and send you the link ok?

Kidney problems don't follow this advice. Try MagEnhance £22 on Amazon, Contains Threonate which research has shown to penetrate the brain. Take 4-6 hours before bed for a quality sleep and the sleep itself will help with healing all the other symptoms. I'd bet a dime that he is not getting quality healing REM sleep - that is waking up feeling refreshed. The nervous system takes a hit when the brain gets compromised. Nerves working overtime, chemicals need restocking more as they are working more. Nerves love magnesium and B12 chewables. I take both MagEnhance, Magnesium citrate and 2 x B12 chewables per day. Seven years ago, I had what you describe in your post. In hindsight, best possible chance of recovery would be to get a vitamin and mineral test full spectrum with doctors oversight. Many things become depleted after brain injury. Brain directs chemical formulation and direction in the body. Without this governor, taking supplements fills in the gaps until the brain can catch up, get back online and start to regulate again.

Other tips, use Youtube to copy gentle exercises for balance and coordination. Yoga videos, step classes, lots of stuff. Just copy the screen in the living room. All the coordination issues come out. You get a chance without embarrassment to understand where your weaknesses lie, and then you have to practice practice practice the weak areas, until they become strong. This is rewiring the brain. But first you have to feed the body to ensure it has the necessary vitamins to heal itself. Otherwise, you challenge the body without the ability to heal. Which means no progress at all.

Best wishes.
