Can anyone help talk to me about the effects of damage to temporal lobes and around the brain stem. I am seeing effects in someone and I don't know if it is the brain damage or old age or something else and I need some help. And reassurance! Thank you

I am looking for help, not with a brain injury but brain damage...
Was there an incident that leads you to believe there is brain damage?
Has the person been to a Dr?
It would be hard to say what you are seeing without some more context or some medical advice I'm afraid.
Sorry I cannot be more help x x x
Really these kind of questions need answering by professionals. We are only BI survivors who can rellate their own experiences, not medically trained.
You need to seek their help

Ginger, can I suggest you phone the Headway helpline for advice. The no.is 0808 800 2244 (free calls / office hours).
HI Sunshineginger. I'm afraid this is really one you need expert medical advice on. Apart from anything else we are all different and brain injuries affect the human body in individual ways. It is all very personal which is why BIs are so hard to 'treat'.
Hi there! I have brain damage caused by congenital hydrocephalus and have found this site useful as the symptoms/results of brain damage seem to be the same whatever the primary cause.
We all have difficulties with mobility, memory, social interactions the list goes on... One thing I struggle with is knowing whether my issues are brain or age related as I am 47 and realise that it could be my time of life as well!
I have found reading posts on here interesting, supportive and a way of filling my day since ill health retirement from my career Kate 😀
Hiya Ginger, 2 of my 3 haemorrhages were on the temporal lobes. The first in 1985 on the right. The meninges were ripped and was the worst and longest to partially get over the damage, although I understand that will never happen. The second was in 2013 on the left lobe. That was a subdural haemorrhage and not too bad. I didn't have an operation. Then last year I was passing out and had an MRI scan that found a third one on the frontal lobe. After the 1st op I had severe epilepsy and deafness, the epilepsy is very well controlled and I also and still believe that was the end of my life, as I knew it. With the 2nd one I had a blinding headache for 11 days and still do but not as bad. The usual balance, tremors, mood swings, coordination and everything else that goes with it. Age doesn't help. Maybe I'm rambling but all that comes with the BI. Dave
