Recovery Update on Fathers Day

During the date of my RTI, 04/08/14 I was a Semi-pro footballer, with my Wife Married since 2006. When I was discharged from Hospital in 2016 we carried out a vowel renewal as we were married for 10 years at the aforementioned date, I can not mention how happy & proud of her support that I’ve received. Therefore any further contact please be aware of my pride...🤓 since I’ve been discharged my Wife has faced the consequences of terminally Ill step-Dad followed by the terminal loss of her Dad who’ve I previously described as Cool, alm, & composed. I’m personally struggling with depression but, my luck is good enough to say the least as I recover continuously

Lovely, positive words (and gorgeous kids !)........ hope you'll manage to banish the depression but, if not, get help from your GP ; you don't need to struggle with it indefinitely. Have a brilliant Father's day ! x

I was very moved by your post, United.

First, what a lovely thing -- renewing your vows after such a difficult time, and knowing full well how much more there was to face. That really reflects what a wonderfully unconditional love relationship you two have. I am so sorry for the sadnesses that your wife is facing. I also am sorry that you are facing depression. It is, however, so uplifting to hear that you are very aware of it as depression and not reality. I'm sure that, with that awareness, you will find the combination of therapy, self-help, mindfulness, exercise, diet and medication that will work for you. As importantly, you are not swallowed by this; you are clearly able to perceive gratitude and joy of your family as well as the depression.

I will wish you steady continued progress but I will not worry about you -- you a wise and rich man. That being said, we are all here for you whenever you want to share good times or bad.

All the best.

Thankyou, it’s enormously difficult to continually swallow any remaining pride to improve recovery from TBI, it’s extremely difficult post RTI & TBI. But the medical proffesions expected it to be terminal. They were the first I had to prove wrong an enormous amount of personalities, I’m still striving towards my initial goal of returning to my employers which is not yet succeded. I’m still striving for that.

I am confident that you will get there or to an equally rewarding situation. I always try to strive a bit "broadly" so that I am open when life presents great opportunities different than the one I had in mind.

With your example, I will try extra hard , starting today, to be less prideful. It is something that blocks us all. Thanks for bringing that awareness and inspiration to mind.

I wish you well on your recovery and you are blessed with an amazing family. It's a difficult fight but a supportive family and friends make it easier. Without mine I would have given up. Much love on your journey x

Thankyou for your reply. The road to recovery is very much, a long one where you have to develop patience, something previously I never possessed thanks again
