Thanks to a lot of encouragement from friends on this forum and my family, I’ve made a couple of steps forward this last week.
I managed to have my first shower in over a year this morning (don’t worry I’ve benn taking baths!). I’ve begun walking to the end of the road every day. I made my first visit to the supermarket in a year on Friday. And we made a visit to a local National Trustproperty too. All little steps with big meaning for me. I’m so grateful for the encouragement and support. I’ve had here.
I had my MRI scan Friday, blood test next Friday, so hopefully next time I see neurologist I’ll have some answers. Does anyone know if MRI scan will show up hypoxic brain injury....someone gave me the impression that damage could be microscopic and not visible.

Great to see you're making (what look to me like) significant strides Ian. Oh and by the way, if you feel unsafe in the shower I hope you've a firm grab rail to steady yourself whilst showering, especially helpful when you get soap in your eyes ! I fitted one a couple of years ago & don't know how I ever managed without.
The link below shows details of MRI results after hypoxia :----
Thanks Cat. A grab rail sounds like a good idea, as I do feel a bit wobbly. I’ll call my OT today and see if they can arrange something. And thanks too for the interesting article on MRI scans. I’m just a bit worried about how I’ll react psychologically to having the amount of brain injury I caused myself confirmed. Still, I guess that if I know what I’m dealing with it will explain things, and on top of that hopefully I’ll get the help I need. Take care, Ian xx
