My previous posts include supplement ideas for BIs. Over 7 years I have used supplements for a targeted perceived body weakness, recorded in a diary its impact and efficiency at solving the weakness, adapted and changed amounts accordingly, mixed and matched (supplements taken together can enhance impact) and stopped after the weakness resolved. Some were prescribed by a non NHS doctor for the inflammation he saw in my live blood sample.

Used as a medicine with the right support, supplements are powerful re-balancers. Support examples include number of sleep hours, depth of a breath (which is why exercise is so important as it deepens breathing and gets large amounts of oxygen in the bloodstream needed to heal brain (heal=assurance that the body is in a state of relaxation and not anxiety or under attack)), confidence and optimism to try, fail and try again, and lastly, repetition repetition repetition (rewiring the brain).

There are three aspects to the approach to supplements. How healthy you were before, the number of bodily systems which were severely impacted in the acute phase of the BI, and the general health, exercise, diet and liquids you consume today. In hindsight, I would have had a medichecks.com full blood test for all the vitamins, iron and thyroid to see where I was deficient. For £150, it would have saved me a few years of healing time! :-)

My background as a therapist helped although in the early days I lost memory of knowledge, events, experiences. I depended solely and completely on the internet, the Headway help sheets, my family and exercise. My doctor voted themselves out at the beginning as they simply didn't believe (couldn't see) the brain injury. Memories started returning when I visited old haunts, earliest memories came back first, short term memory came back last. With patience, I started to see results. When I returned to work and earned a tidy salary, I knew I was 'back to myself'. I still manage my diet, exercise and supplements closely as a weak nervous system doesn't heal in a day.

Best wishes and health to you and yours over the festive period : )

Saturated fats, the fat the body needs.

A lot of people are put off by fat of any name.

Trans fats that you find in margarine is dangerous fats. These are the fats that can cause cardiovascular disease.

I read once about a guy called Ancel Keyes (I think that was how you spell it). He did a study on fats going from country to country and making a diary of the fat intake in each country.

He didn’t end up completing his journey in the end so the study was not complete but his basic summary was that fat was bad for you when actually he was so wrong.

A lot of these ‘diet’ and ‘low fat’ foods are complete lies. More lies to add to our corrupt system. Well margarine is said to be low in fat and healthy when it clearly is not. People are much better off having butter.

Sugar or refined sugar is the real and biggest reason for weight gain and health problems.

Some folk in places like Mexico live on eating fat all the time and they have longer life spans and look much younger. I saw a clip of a 90+ year old man who looked like he was in his 60s!

Sadly there really isn't any magic cure you can take... your brain needs time to heal and the best thing you can is to take really good care of yourself. Eat a well balanced diet, take plenty of fluids (especially water) gte a little exercise every day if you can and get enough rest....
