Absolutely true! The benefits system is an appalling unfair nightmare!

swedish blue for these people who deserve these benefits, these reports are very disturbing.

then youve got the otherside, those who have been on long term dla, because theyve never been checked and no longer need the benefit, hooray for esa and pip assessments.

i also have a friend of mine, has his own house, cooks for himself, shops, has done the diy in his house on his own, shhowers, goes shopping, walks for miles but still has a blue badge.

he gets higher rate care and mobility, has no intentions of informing dwp and has said he doesnt intend giving his benefits up.

Ms Ryan chooses her words wisely. 'Dehumanising' : 'Grotesque' : 'Abuse' and 'Human catastrophe' are all descriptions attributable to this nazi government. If this isn't social cleansing I'm a monkey.

Shame on them.

Thanks Blue for the articles. x

Dear Cat, living under a tory government has and forever will be 'a punishment and abuse' to those living with disability. I'm absolutely heartbroken for those who lose their benefits because of lack of support. Who in their right 'bloody mind' would choose benefits over work?? As you've said, it's such a dehumanising experience! Neither can I forgive tory voters! I haven't claimed PIP, but I've now been put in the Support Group of ESA for severe cfs/me and a whole host of cognitive probs. My mri scans reveal lesions in areas of my brain which account for my problems. It would be easier to give up and say "you win", but I never will. I'm rather dreading Brexit as this could have a further impact on our human rights. At least living under European Rule we had better human rights. Now where do we turn? It's no good feeling hopeless and powerless, so I think I must write to my MP. Well done Ms Ryan for writing this article, its time to educate the ignorant masses!!

A few friends & I were discussing yesterday how insecure we all felt about Brexit and the loss of protection from European legislation. When the UN declaration that our welfare state is a 'Human Catastrophe' is ignored, who'll be there to hold this government to account ?

Scary, really scary.............

I don’t claim PIP either... Yet. But it’s all about the money.

Fuming. A family member has been through lymphoma treatment, chemo and radiation, the result of which has left reduced lung capacity, caused their thyroid to stop working, followed by Sjogren's disease, causing the dry eyes/mouth issues plus neurological issues - autonomic dysfunction, memory and cognitive problems, fatigue, auto immune joint/skin issues. They scored 2 points for their incontinence issues, that is all. I attended their PIP assessment with them - the report states that a breathing test (spirometry ) during assessment was found satisfactory - that test never even happened ! After being previously granted DLA they now have to go through the PIP reconsideration process. The medical evidence supplied was not read - the assessor said they were not allowed to read medical reports before seeing the client, as it would bias the assessment ? !

I too have recently been reassessed for PIP. Due to the many horror stories I have been hearing I braced myself for a reduction ( I was on enhanced rate daily and expecting them to knock it down to standard, in spite of some progression in disability ). Amazingly, I have not only kept enhanced daily but also been awarded low rate mobility ! I supplied zero medical evidence and was given only a few seated physical tests ( I think the balance/core tremor issue made me a risk for standing tests ! ) Interestingly, my memory/cognitive issues have not been acknowledged on the report due to 'lack of evidence' ? I'm not going to push this issue as I am so relieved with the result ! I feel terrible for my family member - genuine people should not be fighting blatantly untrue reports. Grrr ! x

Reading that article and members posts on here re-enforces just how very lucky and fortunate I am to be well enough to work albeit part time and have a job...feeling blessed!
