One of the things I have struggled with over the years is knee pain. Two pieces of surgery and it still hurts so much. I managed to get some funds together and went to an orthopaedic surgeon whom specialises in knees.
After some Xrays and an MRI the consultant gave his verdict - whilst he could see damage and wear & tears in my knees, that wasn't the problem but something more startling - Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) which I had never come across nhs.uk/Conditions/Complex-R...
Where it gets interesting for us is that there seems to be a huge overlap between the symptoms of CRPS and those of Head injuries. Even the treatment is the same neuro inhibitors /anti depressants like Amitriptyline / Gabapentin.
Previously it was deemed to be a psychological problem but has now been accepted as being an actual symptom. /
I started me wondering how many people are misdiagnosed with either symptom ?
