Absolutely normal Beppy............ The fatigue and the poor word recall are classic symptoms and, as we've discussed recently, your haemorrhage is very recent.

It's human nature to strive for the return of normality after an illness, but a brain issue is in a league of iis own and needs months/even years to repair itself.

We've all been where you are now, expecting to overcome our symptoms and prove we're one of the exceptions.

I ordered a new, bright yellow bicycle as soon as I left hospital to leave my family in no doubt I was fully recovered............it sat in a neighbour's garage for a coupe of years before I had the co-ordination and energy to ride (short distances).

I see you started one day a week at the dental practice. That's good......so long as you compensate with extra rest/sleep when the need arises. You'll be fine Beppy if you trust that the signals from your brain/body need to be obeyed.

Take care m'love, Cat xx

We spend our lives striving for more. So accepting less is one hell of a learning curve !

You know you've reached an equilibrium when you interpret it, not as 'less'...............just 'different'. 😳 xx

Wise words as ever cat3! However I would clarify one aspect which is relevant to our understanding of what is happening and is helpful I believe.

Medics think that the brain does not repair itself - once cells are gone/damaged they are gone. However the brain is able to do a certain amount of 're-wiring' and 're-routing' and it is this amazing task which seems to take over in the year or so after a TBI - and actually is a modus operandi that becomes the norm I suspect (28 years after my TBI!)

Your last sentence is spot-on - about responding to the demands made by one's brain - I am sure that it clobbers you if you resist but might sometimes cut one some slack when confident of co-operation... It is a different type of relationship between the conscious and sub=conscious brain after a TBI isn't it?

BW to all

You're right Caroline ; that was sloppy wording on my part. Should've been 'rewire itself' not 'repair itself' ! 😐 xx

I had an SAH and I too get forgetful especially concerning names but I console myself by remembering that I was getting like that prior to the BI. I guess it's an age thing which has been exacerbated. Look back and you'll see how far you've come.

None of us here can answer that as we're all different and heal at different rates. Listen to your body and be guided by your doctors. Most importantly, don't give up. You will get there!
