Can you blame anxiety on not being able to let go of my own issues??? As blaming everything on a head injury is annoying me!?!

Yes I think you can. I suffer from anxiety too but no real cause. Its just who I am.

I think you can. Many people get anxious about something, such as fear of exams and tests. Some people have fear of failure for example. If you get very anxious, it can stop you from doing things or trying things. You can check out aanxiety on psychology forums and similar.

personally i think it's difficult to know where the head injury ends and personality (including anxiety) begins. many people with a tbi (myself included) have very different personalities post-injury. i don't know how old you are becky (i was 11 when i had my tbi) but six years is not that much in recovery terms.

by contrast, my wife does not have a head injury but does suffer with anxiety and will worry endlessly about things that i have learnt with my head injury to shrug off. it's good that you are in a place where you recognise that your tbi has a genuine effect on your life. i would encourage you to continue to gain understanding of the effects of head injuries so you can try to pick apart for yourself which behaviours are most likely tbi-related and which are more likely to do with anxiety - but remember that anxiety originates in the brain and your brain is injured so no matter which way you cut it, it's likely that your injury is either directly (i.e. causing) or indirectly (i.e. affecting how you view and respond to your reality) responsible.

plus, be kind to yourself. there are plenty of people out there who have zero understanding of or tolerance for the effects of a head injury so try really hard to be your own cheerleader instead of your own worst enemy (a lot easier said than done).

take care, and always vent here if needed!

Hello Becky

I am where you are and I can sadly offer no solutions as I too struggle with the same. Some days are better than others and I can rise above "my head is playing up again. " But yes it is tiring. I also find it is no use in trying to explain to others as mostly they respond with a glazed look in their eyes. Are they bored, confused or just not interested - who can say? I have been known as a very positive person my whole life and I guess this apparent negativity? just confuses people. To be honest it just irritates the heckout of me.I don'twant to be like this but find my mind very often does not support a positive approach. I can only describe it like a stranger in my head.

So if it is any consolation to you, you are not on your own. Some good advice from Fuzzyhead. My only experience I can share which might help is listen to your body and when you are tired accept who you are and rest. Tomorrow is another day. Do not try to juggle stuff ,love yourself and simple rest.
