Hi Hawk, and welcome to the forum. It's common after any type of brain injury for us to lose control over our emotions. Sometimes, I can become distressed and angry over small issues, then feel nothing when something really awful happens.

Did you suffer brain damage whilst actually being born ; and was it due to lack of oxygen ?

And are you worried about your reaction to the loss of your mum ?

Please accept my condolencies. Cat x

yes it was lack of oxygen too my brain from birth yes but my biggest problem from it is im too trusting cant see danger everything is slow but also in the mix is there is radiation posion that my father had in ww2 he went too japan after the surrender part of security detail and was exposed too radiation he died aged 50 when i was ten but his inturnel organs suffered advance ageing cause of radiation exposure and genitic flaw from it been passed on too me at conception when he came back in late 1945 naval-history.net/xGM-Chron... this link is of his ships service record , everyone seems too hate me my mother did spoil me she was very overproctive but only because of my disabilty ct scan found that the molecule in my brain was a sdifferent shape no doubt related from my fathers radiation being passed on too me through gen being exposed too radiation.

That's an unusual story Hawk. I'm trying to build up a clearer picture so that I or others can offer support/advice of some kind. Do you live alone ............and are you mobile enough to care for your needs or do you have carers ?

And do you know how to arrange for care ? Maybe you could phone, or ask your sister to phone, the Headway helpline. There are people who can help you in accessing all the appropriate agencies for your personal care and your health needs.

Please get in touch with the helpline tomorrow on 0808 800 2244 (free calls : office hours). You'll be greeted by an understanding operator who will listen to your needs and issues.

And remember we're always here if/when ever you need to talk.

See you again soon I hope Hawk. xx

Hello and welcome.

So sorry about your mum. It must have been difficult for you. Emotions are funny things - for those with brain injuries and for that without. Some people feel things really strongly right at the beginning, others take some time before the effect of what has happened sinks in. There is no right or wrong, people are just different and a brain injury makes everything just that bit harder to deal with.

Yes any damage particularly to the front of the brain can effect how you process emotions.

HI. Just to echo what the others have said. In some people BIs seem to heighten emotions. In others they seem to become less active. We're all different and there is no right or wrong answer.
