24 weeks in with my hubby who sustained a hypoxic brain injury. In the big scheme of things he is doing really well. I'm struggling a little with PTSD and keeping us motivated day after day but I'm sure it will get easier :). Just a couple of questions...do any of you with a bi have pain in your hands as a result of your injury? My husband has bad pains, so much so he could 'chop his hands off'. Our neurologist has said its a neurological phenomenon and the brain is sending out the wrong signals but this doesn't make things easier. My husband doesn't have much insight into his bi at the moment but he said that nothing makes him happy anymore. Does anyone else feel this way? Thanks. Much love. X

Hi Marylou, yes I have suffered the same and still do. For the first 3 years I also got pains down both arms to the point so much so that I fely like your husband, my GP after sending me for x rays etc said there was nothing the NHS could do but to try acupuncture.
To cut a long story short I tried the acupuncture and eventually the pains in my arms have gone, I'm left just with pains in my thumbs now, much more manageable. I still have treatment and am hopeful that those pains will go too.
In my case it's been a slow process but just coming up to 5 years now and I'm feeling very positive for the future.
Best of luck
Janet xx
Hi Marylou. I've had random shooting pains in my feet since the BI and have been told it's not uncommon to experience odd sensations in the extremities. Has your husband's GP ever tried him on Amitriptyline ? it's often used as treatment for nerve pain.
As for the lack of 'happiness', I think many of us here have experienced that dampening of both positive & negative emotions. It's something I struggled with 'til I found certain things, like music, walking in the wind/rain and eating favourite food still hit the spot ; so all's not lost !
Hope your man will adapt & find pleasurable pursuits in time. Cat x
