Hi, has anyone here had 2 consecutive CT scans within a matter of 4 months? I am likely to have another CT done in a few weeks and am worried about having this-unfortunately MRIs don't show broken bones and how well these are healed. Only CTs do this.
Please share your experiences and how long ago you had these.

I have had 2 CT scans recently with no problems. I am assured that they don't cause any worries. As you say, it is the only way to show broken bones.
were these head CTs? did you speak to a radiologist prior to having these done?
Hi AlexLu, I'm not sure how many CT scans I had of my head but I know it was a minimum of 3 within a 6 week period. I had 1 before and 1 after my initial surgery then a further 1 the day before I was discharged to ensure I was safe to fly home after my 2nd craniotomy. Apparently MRI scans would be too blurred to be of any use due to the amount of metal plates I have. I assure you I don't glow in the dark!
It was immediately after a serious accident (description in my profile) & I felt pretty rotten anyway, therefore I can't honestly say if it had any effect on how I was feeling. I had my jaw wired shut for 3 weeks, I'd lost my sense of taste & smell due to having severed the olfactory nerve but my body still craved food. My head was already shaved due to the nature of the surgery but it started to grow back immediately & at a normal rate. That was 11 years ago & I'm not aware of any long term effects. Sorry I can't be of any more help to you
Hello AlexLu I had 5 scans in the space of one year, my last was in June. Two may have been MRIs not sure... Can't remember two of them as I was unconscious after my injury. Please try not to worry, you are completely fine to have them that close. I can relate to how you feel though asi also had that worry myself. Take care xx
Yes I've had 3 in a month before to find a cause of severe headaches, and a cerebral angiogram.... I don't think you've anything to worry about take care xxx
within less than 2 weeks i had 2 head cts and an mri head scan, if you are worried about the radiation ive had 2 ct scans in past 5 and a half years and around 80+ xrays i lost count at around 70 xrays and then had xrays on my back and wrists at one point i had around 15 xrays took in a matter of 3 days so it could actually be around 100 xrays ive had and ive still all my hair and im ok apart from the brain damage,
Hi, why there is need for ct scans so often? I have been advised by my neurologist that ct should be done only when necessary with 6 months break due to radiation.
