I see your total is currently at £138.64 ( 92 % ) of a hoped for £150 : )

Swim is on Mon 7th November ( brrr, hope it's a heated pool ! ) so less than a month away now ! Minimum donation is £2, so let's hope enough readers can spare a little to get you to that total or even beyond ! Mighty oaks from little acorns grow...

Hi Angela,

Yes, I hope the pool is heated to. I prefer the cold but I hope the pool doesn't reflect that. I have had trouble with pool temperarure in the past. I used to belong to a kids/disabled people mixed sports group and through the sports group I used to do a spot of swimming on a Sunday afternoon.

Anyway, quite often the pool was pretty cool to almost cold. It wasn't so bad during Summer but around the colder time of year it didn't go down so well.

People would moan about it but nothing was ever done. I think I was mainly the only person in the group who was emailing the people who owned the sports centre and was telling them that it wasn't right. 30 degrees was the temperature of their pool, which is what they said. Now 30 degrees is quite warm indeed. The pool wasn't.

I'm sure I said once in an email that I know I have a disability but my body can easily tell the difference between a 30 degree pool and a non 30 degree pool. Basically, it was discrimination.

One time I went swimming the water was freezing cold. It was like cold water steaight out the tap! Most of the time, I would say their water was more like 15 degrees or around there and the way they would test the temp was by dipping a hand i the water.

I don't think it is just me who would say this but hand temperature is completely different to body temperature.

The emails went on for months and nothing was ever done so in the end I left.

So I shall say that Charter community sports centre in Portsmouth (where the poll is located) is complete rubbish.

I should review Charter on Trip advisor :).

Another thing. You're right my total so far is £138.64p which is a bit of an odd number since people can donate in 10s, 20s and so on.

The reason why is because an American friend of mine sponsored me and payed $50 which equals to £38.64 :). Very kind of him too :).
