When writing a book your title generally sets the tone and will depend considerably on your main target audience because obviously you want the title to attract the attention of your intended audience... and you also need it to be attractive to others who may not be looking for the book but may like to read it anyway.

My personal opinion on the two suggestions you gave...

Using migraine in the title could scare the living daylights out of migraine sufferers and could mean that people who might benefit from reading your book will miss it because they are not interested in books about migraine

"The day my world stopped" as a title..even if it feels that way to you (and I am sure it does) is a bit vague and melodramatic. I certainly would skip straight over such a non specific title

Publishers usually offer advice on titles and they are the experts and worth listening too...although it never hurts to do a little market research of your own.

Good luck with your project... hope you will post a link once it is published.

added: Of course there is always the chance you are not actually writing a book - I have difficulty telling if someone is being serious or not when they say/post things... since by BI my social radar is kaput ...in which case oops I did not see that coming ;)

I agree with iforget on the migraine front. I get migraines regularly, in fact I had 'the worst headache of my life' 5 years ago and, amongst other ongoing symptoms have been unable to walk properly since....but it was just a migraine, according to my docs. And I will know the difference between my horrendously debilitating migraines and the pain I will feel if/when my aneurysm goes....apparently.

As a migraineur with aneurysm I would be fine with a book that suggested it wax about the former and was in fact about the latter. I have an interest in both. But most people with migraines probably don't have an aneurysm lurking in their head and sure don't need to start thinking they do..

I think the second probably sums up what you are feeling, but is likely to be only a working title. As you write something will pop up out of the text and suggest itself, I am sure.

Not in an way trying to denigrate posts so far at all, but when you don't have any sensible comment to make, do what I will do, don't make a comment! But Fantastic that you are writing a book, as I have put on here before, I used to have a wish to write a book. Didn't do it! :(

I think the forum could become a bleak place without any humour.

Surely no harm in a little banter between good friends ? : ) x

Razy, whatever you decide to call your book I know it will come from the heart : )

Apologies for disrupting the class ! x

It might help to do a search for books about BI...in particular those connected to your/your husband's specific topic (sorry...I have no idea of the actual circumstances) and see what has been done already and how you feel about those titles.

Some people do go for a more generic title - often in the hope of not only reaching their target audience but a wider readership to ...because of course anything that raises awareness can only be a good thing.

Many use humour in the title...and lets face it we use humour in our daily lives to cope with things that are definitely not funny....

When it is a work in progress you can call it whatever you like...

When you have completed it, gone through all the various rounds of editing and have reached the final copy MS you may even find that it will name itself. ..

and of course you may decide on title only to have a publisher veto your choice.

Whatever happens I wish you luck with this... I hope it turns out to be everything you hoped it would be.
