This is an individual shot of me in my dashing stetson :).
Don't ask me what the tie was all about haha. I just felt like wearing one :).

Brilliant! Ties are usually totally pointless but on you it has STYLE. They should be outlawed everywhere (or a cHOICE, NO pressure) except (like you doing) to make fun of them!!!
Just so you know, I am not making fun of the tie at all. What has the tie done wrong and why do you think they are totally pointless?
What should be outlawed is all these dangerous chemicals that go into food and drink not ties. Ties do not pose any threat.
I've got a few ties now that I have bought at different charity shops. I bought them cos I like the colours/patterns on them. If worn with the correct shirt, they can look quite smart :).
Ask fans of Isadora Duncan about the threat caused by long scarves....
I didn't even know of Isadora Duncan but just read about her death.
She must have been wearing one pretty long scarf if it got tangled in the rear hubcaps of her car.
Well, it's lucky my tie is not long and it is lucky I don't drive haha.
hey cool dude
Hi Matt the Hat : )
I was hoping you would post a pic from today's events : ) Did it go well and were you all mad hatters ? ! Any special events in honour of the day ?
Is that the Headway centre in the background ? Posh shiny floor ! I used to buff floors for a living so I appreciate a nicely shined one : )
Hi Angela,
The day did go well today and all who attended were in hats. There were trilby's, flat caps, cowboy hats and even a military helmet haha. There is a guy who has only just joined the group and he wasn't aware of Hats for Headway so he had no hat but he wasn't left out because when we had our pictures taken, someone else lent him their hat for him to wear specially for the shot.
No other special events occured, it was a pretty normal day otherwise but it certainly was not dull which was good :).
That is the Headway centre you see that I am standing in :). Well, not exactly a Headway owned building per sé but it is a community centre that Headway rent once a week and it is just over a mile from my house so not far to get to :).
Clint Eastwood eat your heart out. And well done Matt for getting into the spirit of the occasion !! xx
Thanks Cat and yes, Clint Eastwood indeed :). Maybe I should have worn a poncho as well haha.
One other guy did say I was like the lone ranger. My volunteering consists of making drinks for the rest of the group and as I was feeling a little tired at the group also, I did sit aside at the group where it was a little quieter, so I really was like the lone ranger in some ways.
"Hi ho silver, away!"
There is a guy who can talk for Britain and if I was sitting next to him he would have positively sent me to sleep :).
I have a big problem with the demand of constant talk.....talk......talking. It makes me panicky, overheated and gives me a head ache.
You did well Matt to keep going despite your fatigue, and I'm sure your 'quiet time' was well deserved.
Years ago, Geoff, my late husband, decided to throw the hearth rug over his shoulder, stick a fake cigar in his mouth and go round all the neighbours to wish them happy new year. He returned home 2 hrs later, very drunk !
Pity there was no YouTube in those days.
Of course this won't mean anything unless you've seen 'The good, the bad and the ugly', the classic 70s western starring Mr Eastwood. xx
Ah, you won't mind somebody like me then when it comes to talking, I wouldn't be able to hold a conversation for very long, I'm getting better at chatting longer as I used to be very anti social.
I'm not really much of a conversation starter. I can talk quite easily online but offline is a different matter.
Was your late husband Irish by any chance? It just sounds a bit like an Irish thing to do... Getting drunk that is haha.
Big shame there was no Youtube back then, I'm sure it would have been fun to watch :).
I've heard of the film 'The good, the bad and the ugly' and I have heard the line "Are you staring at me, punk?...", was that a line from that film?
Wasn't that from 'Dirty Harry' ? I remember he hardly spoke a word all the way through this film. There was a brilliant soundtrack which made dialogue pretty unnecessary and which became quite a classic for a long time afterwards. xx
It probably was Dirty Harry now that you mention it. I wouldn't really know cos westerns have never appealed to me.
No, me neither, but this just happened to be one of those films which was marketed so well that I made an exception, and the music score was unforgettable....................... it was unlike any western I've ever seen.
Must've really liked it to be defending it so much !
If you Google 'Good, Bad & Ugly theme' I'll bet you find you've heard it somewhere before. xx
I have heard that theme lots of times before.
I think that theme has been used in many other TV shows even cartoons.
It might have been in a Looney tunes cartoon. As one of the characters is Yosemite Sam, a cowboy, I am betting I have heard it from there :).
I just Googled it myself & got goose-bumps from all the accompanying memories, especially of Geoff who died recently, who really fancied himself as the character in the film !
We seem to have strayed well away from 'Hats for Headway' Matt. Take care xxx
There is a certain unparallel je ne sais quoi here. Reminds me of our local SteamPunk festival. Seems somehow daringly unorthodox orthodoxy. Hats off to you!
Well done, especially with the tie!
Thank you very much :). And you like the tie too :).
