Yep mine seem to have gone on strike and finally packed in about a couple of years ago. Ended up on replacement therapy , itsnot perfect but better than not producing any. What problems are you having?

Hi Savage,

Mine seem to swing more extremely than before:cycles of increased temperature, appetite, thirst, fatigue,IBS etc and I have had some (possibly related ?) symptoms such as burning tongue and increase in greasy skin causing seborrhea type outbreaks. To be honest I can't wait until I go through the menopause -I am hoping the fluctuations might even out !

Hi Angelite

I can assure you that the fluctuations don't even out after menopause they get worse and continue! Been there doing that 10 years on!

Simular for me savage, temperature control seems the more difficult to live with. Holidays in the sun are a nightmare, but seems selfish making rest of family holiday in cold climates. Must admit dont think that would help as I can start to sweat even in cold weather and continue doing so for hours ( do end up catching cold alot as well) . Testosterone is starting to be controlled via injection and seems to be stablising( watch this space). I've think the hormone inbalance isnt helping mood swings and lately seem to be suffering blank moods ( see other post) . Any suggestions are greatly welcome.

Angelite, wish I could go through menapause to , sounds like a plan . ..just thought dont you end up on some form of HRT? ..if so I'm already there and it aint the most fun thing to have. Hope it works for you. My wife keeps threatening to go through the "change"....wondering what she'll change into ??? Have asked her to try for a Jag......I'll not repeat her answer on here!!!

Me too with the temperature issue. I often go into town on a winter's day in sensible clothing but almost always end up walking home wearing tee shirt only (plus jeans of course) & carrying coat+jumper.

Only yesterday a charity worker stopped me in the street saying 'Oh my god, aren't you free-e-ezing ?' to which I replied 'Boiling actually'.

And I often have to make swift exits from shops when their heating is too efficient ; sometimes having to dump my purchases and flee as I fear I'd otherwise pass out.

All happened since the BI. Pre BI I was always cold ! :o

It took a good year for my hormones to stabalise. My skin was terrible, especially when lady days was due; my mood swings the week before lady days were horrendous (worse than normal), but it has all settled down. It's been 15 months since my TBI and I can honestly say my hormones seem to have settled back down to "normal". Before the accident I suffered severe Endometriosis, I had a few attacks whilst in hospital but that now seems to have gone completely; so pleased because I suffered with that for 17 years (one good thing to come out of the TBI)

I see some of you are still having trouble with temp control, mine (thankfully) semi sorted; I still can't get my feet and hands warm if they get really cold but I don't have trouble in the heat. Early on in my recovery my temperature gauge was all over the shop.

Hi Savage,

Hormonal imbalances are a common effect of a brain injury, and you may find the information on our website useful: headway.org.uk/hormonal-imb...

If you feel this relates to you, you may find it helpful to show your GP and ask for appropriate testing.

Please don't hesitate to contact our helpline on 0808 800 2244 or helpline@headway.org.uk if you'd like to discuss this in more detail.

Best wishes,

Headway
