Gosh that is awful to receive such a worrying letter right on Christmas. Trouble is organisations such as the DWP have to carry on with their work regardless of the time of year. That's great if it is a letter giving you a benefit award but for you it is linked with lots of angst and worry especially as it would have been the last thing you were expecting as given an 18 month award. Is it perhaps because it is transferring to the PIP benefit that is replacing DLA? However, I thought that only happens when the benefit comes to renewal time. I wonder if it is an error in that the renewal date has been wrongly entered onto the computer system so the letter would be generated without anyone checking if it was due? You say that it was 6 months ago that you had the letter in the post telling you that you were being paid DLA. But I assume there would have been a back payment to when you 1st submitted the application. I know they are very behind with processing DLA applications with some people waiting up to a year. With your back payment months added to the 6 months since you received your letter - how long would that total? It is usual to get the reapplication forms in advance so hopefully there isn't either a gap in your benefit continuing to be paid or you having to pay back monies if you were no longer entitled at renewal time?
Hope you can maKe sense of what I have written. It is just thoughts as I don't really know as I still have my initial application pending. It frustrating because you can't even ring to enquire because the offices will be closed until possibly the 29th Dec or maybe even until after the New Year. I can understand how this is going to worry you all over the festive period.
They are slowly moving everyone from DLA to pip and it may be that you are in an area scheduled for review. I would not worry about it . you will need to complete any forms they send you for pip. If you are concerned get some help with this and maybe call headway after Xmas for advice.
I have a lifetime DLA award but still have to be assessed for pip...just waiting for the letter...
