Should be no problem ( I used to be able to put a battery in a watch in 30 seconds flat )

Today - No Way my co-ordination was non existent - had to give no 2 son instructions how to fit batteries

I'M HOPELESSS. I HAVE REAL PROBLEMS WITH HAND EYE COORDINATION. I WAS TYRING TO CUT SOME LAVENDER TODAY & I JUST CAN'T LINE THE SCISSORS UP WITH THE STEM I'M TRYING TO CUT UNLESS I GUIDED THEM WITH THE OTHER HAND.

THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME & DRIVES ME MAD. APPARENTLY I TRY DO EVERYTHING TOO FAR TO THE RIGHT BECAUSE THE VISION IN MY LEFT EYE IS SO BAD & LOOKS AT A DIFFERENT ANGLE TO THE RIGHT EYE.

THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN I'M TRYING TO PICK THINGS UP, IF I CAN EVEN SEE THEM TO PICK THEM UP IN THE FIRST PLACE.

THERE'SNO WAY I CAN DO ANYTHING FIDDLY OR PRECISE.

THE JOYS OF BI (NOT)

Yes. It is one of my long term problems. Trying to get my right leg and arm to do things at the right time is very hard. I'm persisting at gym with exercises, but I must say that progress is very slow, if at all. I'll keep trying though!

The lack of coordination is one of the biggest symptoms I have and causes the most problems and frustration.

It's a big issue and I find it distressing.

I used to be probably at the upper end of hand to eye and general physical coordination. Dropping things from out of my hands is very bad. We have a mixed collection of crockery and glasses because I break them so often. I just drop them, or smash them into other things.

Yeah dropping things is a problem.

But even working on my car or bikes becomes a major effort because I have lost some of my old technical and logistics ability with mechanical things.

It's a double whammy, where my head lacks the natural mechanical ability I had and also I have lost a lot of the hand to eye or "by feel" coordination.

Some days I just have to leave what I am working on, because I've learned it just ain't going to happen.

Thanks dillm2, that's helped to get it down on paper.

Thanks for commenting it has reminded me of the problem I have daily I used to put it down to being clumsy I will mention it to the therapist when I go again

Even now I am convinced that keyboard on the lap top moves the keys around because I always seem to type a different letter than the one I aimed for frustrating grrrrrrr

in reply to

ME TOO. I HAVE A REAL PROBLEM WITH THE LETTERS ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE KEYBOARD AS I CAN'T SEE THEM. A & S ARE THE WORST, I GET A THE FIRST TIME' I KEEP HITTING TAB AS IT'S NEXT TO THE A THEN FIND MY SELF TYPING IN THE WRONG PLACE IN THE MESSAGE. DRIVES ME MAD.

Yes. It is so frustrating. I will put a cup of tea in my right hand, and start carrying it, then wham, am Hans suddenly jerks and my tea is all over the floor. It also gets worse when I try and do something at shoulder height or higher.

You are talking to the master at coffee throwing !!!

I have never ever in all of my life dropped and thrown so many drinks... up the stairs, up the kitchen units etc etc

No matter how hard I concentrate or focus, I'll spill it somehow.

My little lady says I should get some of those hospital cups with anti spill tops, she is half joking. lol

There was a phase when people were dropping milk in shops and filming it for a laugh on u tube.

I dropped a six pint carton when I kind of grabbed and not quite got it, it exploded in spectacular style! I had to show my headway card that day due to the you tube craze.

I also struggl with the keyboard especially on the I pad!

Oh yes, my hypoxic injury was very similar to a stroke, affecting my left side. My strength in my left hand and arm is pretty close to the same as my right, but my fine motor skills are skills are gone. Usually I can still do the same things as before but it takes a lot longer, and I'm less accurate. Although my left hand fingers work somewhat okay, my thumb tends to easily contract. this makes using my left hand hard to use, and makes two handed typing, and also playing chords on the guitar extremely difficult.

Well, my handwriting is awful! I teach (in a university), and I often hand back the students' marked work, and apologise for my handwriting in the marking. "Remember, my brain is 'injured' - this affects my handwriting, and my eyesight, but as you all know, it *doesn't* affect my understanding of geology!"

I don't know if this is 'co-ordination' - whenever I make a cup of tea for myself and my husband, I always *insist* on carrying them through to the lounge, together. I have to take great care - I walk slowly and carefully, and I have to be *really* careful with the cup in my right hand. I have been doing this for years, now, but I am still always quite pleased that I CAN do it - I couldn't, for years.

Yes, my handwriting is also awful. It has something to do wt the process of thinking of what I want to write, and then putting it on paper. It's a lot like my speech impediment, and ha more too do then with just weaker left sided muscles. The combination of thinking of what I want to say, and physically saying the words is very difficult for me. I think it has something to do wt my right brain injury. I used to paint and draw, but now my creativity is gone. I can actually roughly forge, someone else's handwriting, and copy a drawing or photo quite easily. Still when trying to do it using my own mind only, it is very hard.
