HAS ANYONE DEVELOPED OCD SINCE THEIR BI? I NOW COUNT INCESSANTLY IN MY HEAD. IT DRIVES ME MAD BUT I JUST CAN'T STOP. NEURO SAID IT'S POST BI OCD. I ALSO CHECK THINGS OVER & OVER TO MAKE SURE THEY'RE LOCKED, TURNED OFF ETC ETC. NOT SUCH A BAD THING AS I CONSTANTLY LEAVE TAPS RUNNING, FRIDGE DOOR OPEN, BACK & FRONT DOORUNLOCKED NIGHT. BUT WHY DO I HAVE TO DO IT MULTIPLE TIMES. IT TAKES ME AN HOUR TO GET INTO BED & IT'S SO WEARING. ANOTHER JOY OF BI.

When I was coming out of my coma I chanted numbers continuously, but always in a pattern, in twos or thousands or hundreds, I couldn't stop and it had one doctor baffled. Since then I find I count a lot in my head, normal counting though, when I'm going to sleep, steps when I'm outside, or lampposts, cars anything.

Looking back, I've always done it, who knows why? Can be annoying, but it's just part of me I don't really notice it now.xxx

Oh yes, went through periods of very odd behaviour - at one point measured the different sizes of toilet rolls! When something used to be out of place it used to drive me nuts.

Also when certain things come into my head I just have to do it - even though it is way down the list of priorities

DITTO THINGS OUT OF PLACE. I CAN SPEND AGES MAKING SURE THINGS ARE MILLIMETRE PERFECT. WAS ALWAYS A BIT LIKE THIS BUT IT'S RIDICULOUS NOW.

Not half. Leaving the house is a major operation if the wife is away. Check this, check that and if I'm interrupted - just a noise is enough - then its back to the start again. When I leave the house I check incessantly that the front door and porch doors are locked --- even then I've come back to make sure. That is a real pain.

I'VE BEEN OUT TWICE LEAVING MY FRONT DOOR KEYS IN THE LOCK.. CHECKING IS A NECESSARY EVIL SOMETIMES.

I still double and triple check everything and don't like uneven numbers and for some reason labels on towels now annoy me or labels not facing forwards. It's all pretty minor things but it can be irritating.

THIS IS EXTRAORDINARY! I HATE EVEN NUMBERS ESPECIALLY 4 OR MULTIPLES THEREOF. I HATE LABELS ON TOWELS, THEY ALWAYS HAVE TO BE FOLDED SO YOU CAN'T SEE THEM, I HAVE TO HAVE LABELS ON FOOD TINS FACING FORWARD. WHY OH WHY?I ASK MYSELF AT WHAT POINT DOES PERSONAL PREFERENCE BECOME OCD- PRETTY SOON IN MY CASE. I DON'T CARE IT'S MY LIFE!

I know exactly how you feel. It's a pain in the arse. My obsession was to be cured of epilepsy, and the compulsion was picking up litter, checking door closed etc. CBT is the best way to solve OCD. You'll learn to separate your thoughts from your feelings.

house keys are my ocd - constantly checking bag to reassure myself I'll be able to get back in. Does anyone leave a spare key with a neighbour. I haven't been here long enough to know anyone well enough to hand over a key in my absence. Guess its lack of trust yet.

I USED TO BUT I TOOK IT BACK WHEN I THOUGHT I WAS MOVING. THEY THEN SOLD THEIR HOUSE BUT 10 MONTHS LATER THEY ARE STILL THERE. IF I WERE THEIR PURCHASER I'D HAVE WALKED AWAY LONG AGO. STILL NOT SURE WHETHER TO GIVE KEY BACK. YOU CAN BET THAT IF I DO THEY'LL LEAVE. I DO HAVE 2 SETS IN MY HANDBAG IN CASE I LOSE ONE. IF I LOSE THE BAG I'M STUFFED.
