See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vesti...

And: vestibular.org

I had a massive hemorrhagic stroke about 5 years ago, and recently started working with a Physical Therapist who is also a "Certified Vestibular Therapist". I have considerably regained my strength before working with her. Now, with her help, I am demonstrably regaining my sense of balance.

Hi pollyanne,

Thank you for your post.

There's a good factsheet about this on the Brain and Spine Foundation's website at brainandspine.org.uk/vestib...

It gives some vestibular rehabilitation exercises you can try yourself, and a little more information about what it is.

As the factsheet says, it's important to get an assessment from a physiotherapist (preferably a neuro-physiotherapist) first to get an idea of exactly what exercises will suit you.

As billye22 indicates above, it can be a really successful therapy for some people.

Best wishes,

Headway.
