That ferritin result is not high enough to be of concern. Especially with a high CRP reading. You have an inflammation of some sort which is giving the high reading.
I don't know what connection your thyroid situation has on ferritin levels- there is a very good Thyroid site here on HU.
Looking at your bloods, TSH & FT4 are as expected & FT3 is good. If I were you I would definitely be supplementing B12 in the form of methylcobalamin (better retention in tissues & supports SAMe - for explanation of SAMe, get back on the thyroid forum 😉).. .. And remember most hypothyroid peeps have Hashi and many Hashi sufferers have MTHFR problems (excretion & utilisation) ! ! .. (even with a reasonable level which you do not have).
Also folate …. B12 and folate are frequently found in the same biochemical pathways and work together to help create, develop and regenerate red blood cells and make iron work properly. Folic acid also participates in the homocysteine metabolic cycle & adequate levels are required to keep this in check (high levels are considered a significant risk factor in cardiovascular disease and may disrupt "THYROID METABOLISM"). Supplement as Methylfolate.
Also, you don’t mention thyroid antibodies ? ? … Elevated would give inflammation within the body that would result in high ferratin & CRP levels .... but a 270 ferritin level in haemochromotosis terms is not high anyway..
ps: This is weird discussing thyroid on a haemochromosis site ! ! ! .. 😉 .. Sorry you are not feeling well.
Thanks Radd - sorry I can't remember your name on the TUK forum...
I'm not feeling that bad really (except for memory loss!) despite feeling like I'm constantly running a temperature (I've been cold for many years).
I just wanted to check with folk that know, that the levels weren't worth worrying about & confirm it's inflammation somewhere - you hint at Thyroid antibodies (not tested) the little blighters were nibbling away at my half-thyroid since 2010.
I do have some B12 supplements now( & Vit D again) & will look into methylfolate too.
Inflammation doesn't have to be caused by elevated thyroid antibodies ……… could be unknown food allergies/sensitivities, too much sugar, or not enough plain water ….. or gut dysbiosis or environmental toxicity or stress or just lack of sleep, blah, blah, blah ....
Inflammation can suppress the HPT axis, so disrupting the production/regulatory mechanisms of thyroid hormones, & decreases receptors, & conversion of T4-T3.
Hi . I too was diagnosed with high ferratin levels. It was explained to me by my consultant that my body is producing to much iron in my blood , I have an iron overload, I have regularl venesection where they take 400mls of blood each week, sometimes once a fortnight. You just have to avoid eating to much food that contains alot of iron.
