Hi, consultant said should go for Pneumovax vaccine as I have coeliac. is this usual? Flu vaccine too.

I had both this year but nurse thought it was weird that anyone with coeliac should need them. I have diabetes so that makes me eligible.

It is recommended for people with damaged immune systems, so I guess being coeliac would qualify. Also tends to be offered if you are over 65.

Have had both too. Have diabetes..but not over 65.

Try (!) to keep myself as well as possible by eating carefully, exercise etc.

Puzzles me too why the views are so divided....do what you think is right for YOU.

Hi Coeliac Uk recommends that everyone with CD has this vaccination, please see link. I have had it and I also had two weeks seriously ill in hospital with Pneumonia as a child.

Many thanks for answers. Don't have diabetes and am not over 65!! However can't see vaccinations doing any harm therefore am having them both later today.

I have my flu jab done every year at the chemist......I have to pay but well worth it...

Hi i was diagonoised in december i have flu jab cause of asthma anyway, but i had to have pnemonia injection and also the hib injection i had the second part of my hib one yesterday its done in two parts at least 8 weeks apart apparently its to stop meningitus

Just wanted to add that I have this book on my itunes amazon.co.uk/Celiac-Disease... the author is an expert on cd and he mentions in the audio book that we are very suseptable to pneumonia and meningitis
