Some restaurants use chicken stock cubes or add other ingredients.

Rice is part of the same family of grasses as wheat and contains proteins which some coeliacs have problems with, but most coeliacs are fine.

More of an issue is that Risotto usually contains butter, cream and cheese, which if you are milk-sensitive will cause issues (and clinical research in Sweden has shown that 50% of coeliacs get coeliac-like reactions in their gut when milk was introduced into their intestines).

So you will probably be OK, but then again, maybe not! Check with the waiter/chef.

Apart from the stock, which you need to ask about, risotto should be fine. I am a super sensitive coeliac and have a much more restricted diet that normal coeliacs but rice is totally fine don't worry

I'd agree with Suzi. Rice is gluten free and totally fine - it's only the stock you need to ask about.

Bon Appetit!

Alot of Italian resturants now offer Gluten free pasta, especially if you phone in advance they'll be able to tell you if they have gluten free options, I've even came across a few that offer freshly made gluten free pizzas! Always phone in advance I always find I get great service and have so far never been glutened while eating out! :D
