Our new blog post reveals new tips here:
Weren't sure if by 'holiday' you meant going away or just not being at work Fiona. Some people substitute the word 'Christmas' with 'Holiday' so as not to offend non-Christians.
I've been brewing and drinking home brew gluten free lager by 'Gone with the Wheat' for the past year. The kits contain sorghum 'malt', some flavouring, and yeast. Cost around £25 for 40 pints.
I find it takes about 6 weeks from start to finish: 3 weeks brewing, 3 weeks conditioning. Others claim it doesn't take so long.
I have read claims that sorghum contains a form of gluten that might still affect coeliacs, so proceed with caution.
There are 4 different brews; Czech, USA style, German, and strawberry. Not tried the strawberry but have made a couple of hundred pints of the others at least.
None of them taste like anything you can buy, but hey, nothing tastes like beer except beer.
