Any recommendations for a consultant in South East?

Can anyone suggest a private consultant in South East for partner's continuing probs despite GF diet for four years since diagnosis...extreme tiredness, upset stomach etcGP not interested, will not test him for anything! He even had to pay for his own thyroid tests (negative) so may as well go private...

I used Dr Neil Jackson drneil-jackson.co.uk/ for my coeliac diagnosis. He did me a private consultation, but was very sensible and offered to do some treatment on the NHS to save money on fees.

I have never been treated for CD just diagnosed then told to go away and dont eat bread and cakes. If it had not been for this site I would not have found out so much about it.

My free prescription for food has been stopped since easter.

Can I ask is there an actual treatment for this, I still get tummy rpoblems even though I eat very carefully ?

I know this is not connected to the Q above but I am also in the south east, and would consider private treatment.

Try avoiding all starch which is in most bread and potatoes , I only use the seeded bread

Hello debfinch, I am not sure where in the south east you live, but I asked my GP for a referral to UCLH in London. This is a teaching hospital and I have been really impressed with the treatment I have received. I attended a local hospital ten years ago but not very helpful to me, other than confirming what I already knew, but not how to deal with it. I felt so ill and very down that I asked my GP if I could use the NHS Choose and Book method. If you go down this road I can give you the name of the dietician I saw. She arranged several tests to be done, which also flagged that I am lactose intolerant as well as gf.

Over the 10 yr period I saw several different specialist, NHS and private, but this lady really helped me this summer.
