Hi ive been a coeliac for 15 years now.....
Hi Vanessa, welcome to this page. Big YES to visiting your doctor. Explain what's happening and ask to be referred back to the gastro dept at your hospital. It could be all manner of things but as you've managed successfully for this length of time it's worth getting checked.
It's worth pointing out that if you eat some of the processed foods that don't list gluten ingredients they could suddenly change and something you've been fine with causes a problem, but hey, you're probably aware of this
One of our team has Pernicious Anaemia which is a B12 deficiency requiring regular injections. One of the symptoms for them has been bloating and cramps caused by a form of gastritis caused by the PA.
Please let us know how you get on and if you need any further info please ask.
Hi thanks for your comment , i think i will get this checked out. I have not had any follow ups with the hospital this i was first told i had coeliacs.
Thanks also for your comment about processed foods ...i try to stay away from these :).
Also should coeliacs have regular check ups ..blood tests....bone scans ?
thanks again
Yes Coeliacs should have a Dexa scan at diagnosis. Then yearly weight & blood checks (B12, Vitamin D, Iron).
This happened to me..i found that i had to stop all diary products and soya....apparently according to my Dr we are at risk from man made foods...
Karen sometimes, during the healing process, the stomach is easily irritated and it's sometimes recommended to leave out lactose products until you are healed. You can then introduce them back again. We're all for eating naturally gluten free and cooking from scratch where possible. It's all the hidden extras that you don't want or need that sometime cause a problem.
Hi Vanessa yes please see your doctor a similar thing happened to me after over 20 years as a coeliac - as I was having a stressful time they thought it was IBS then procolitis and in the end I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. I hope your condition will improve on its own and quickly but please have some tests done in case you need treatment
try boosting your immune system Hi Vanessa I have been coeliac for over 50 years now ,but I have done a lot of research after my daughter and grandchildren where found to have it also ,I use all natural products and we are all on naturally organic supplements ,we all boost ourselves with a drink called Zambroza it is the best immune booster (look at research into immune system and allergies ) I have found this to be the best as it tastes so good and has many more benefits I sell it discounted on my web site but am unsure if I can give this information on here.
Hi Vanessa,
Same thing happened to me last year, coeliac 9 years and lactose intolerant for 7 years.
I went to doc and had all bloods done, which were reassuringly fine, but baffling, as I felt absolutely rotten (at my worst I went to the shop 5 minutes down the road, got half way then came home crying because I was too tired!)
Doc sent me off for another endoscopy, which confirmed I was on a partial GF diet. I searched every product and stripped my diet back to basic and natural, before finding out that BEANSPROUTS!!!! from Sainsbury were my problem, as they contained wheat! Worth seeing doc and checking EVERYTHING!
Wishing you get well quickly.
