Halloween party tips?

My tips for having a fun and safe Halloween are:
Have a stash of Halloween sweets at home that you can swap for anything which your child will get which is not suitable. I always encourage my child to accept the goodies on offer on the premise that either I will eat them- or she can swap them for GF stuff when we get home.
Anything which is not labelled or we are unsure about either goes in the bin- or becomes mine! We have a good time doing swapsies!
When my daughter was younger, we had a Halloween party at home with loads of her friends. Everything was gluten free. For younger children this is a good option- as it removes some of the anxiety of not being able to eat what is on offer.I've got a good selection of easy recipes on my website which are themed for Halloween. You can check these out on glutenfree4kids.com.
If you have neighbors who you are on good terms with- it's worth having a word with them about having gluten free sweets. It may be a little extreme, but you could drop off some gluten free sweets beforehand which they can then give out to your child/children. I know this sounds a bit over the top- but for children- it's important that they don't feel left out and the look of sheer joy when they get something they know they can have, is really worth the effort and all the advance planning.
