how come i can drink fosters and have no reaction

i was told i was celiac on may 28th (still waiting for specalist appointment) and have been gluten free since then but at the weekend i had a pint of fosters and im fine ,,, im so confused

Lucky you, I had a supposed gf Crabbies ginger beer and had a really bad reaction, only risked it because said gf. Thank goodness I was home.

i dont get it, i had a few chips which had a coating on and was ill for a week, yet i drink a pint and im fime this whole thing is driving me mad !!!!

I had a lager and black by mistake poured into a pint of cider and black and I was ill for 4 days...not sure why you weren't affected...

I think we have all tried to convince ourselves that we don't have Coeliac Disease! I tried it with a sausage roll (2 actually) and it had no effect. I had an appointment with my nutritionist and I fessed up to her who told me that unfortunately this is quite common, BUT she cautioned me that the damage is done internally and it puts back your recovery especially early on. As usual with this disease, some people react differently to different amounts. Best advice is to talk it over with a professional.

Beer contains malt, which is derived from Barley. This contains gluten.

Chops are quite often coated with semolina which is a high gluten form of wheat.

If you are a coeliac you will react to both, but as has been said before, even though you may not feel ill damage may be being done to your intestines, which short term could cause nutritional deficiencies and longer term, permanent damage or risk of bowel cancer.
