Is old Jamaica ginger beer GF?
I googled it and go this description of the ingredients: Filtered water, sugar, natural and artificial ginger flavors, gum arabic, citric acid, sodium benzoate, carbon dioxide.
So unless you react to any of those ingredients in theory it should be ok?
I had gf crabbies small bottle in February, just because i saw it on supermarket shelf.. Within hour had nausea then very very poorly for 3hours. Dont normaly have alchohol.
I have Crabbies Alcoholic Ginger Beer - only usually once a fortnight and find that it hasn't caused any problems. They do two versions both GF - one is the standard version and quite mild, fairly low in alcohol content. The other comes in small bottles - has much more of the sugar brewed out of it and is approx double the strength.
I have always loved ginger beer - but I'm not keen on the flavour of the Old Jamaica version.
You could buy a ginger beer plant and perhaps have a go at brewing your own - at least then you are in total control as to what goes into the recipe.

Hi Osborne - it could be sulphites in it or the bubbly fizz. I know each time I have it it gives me bad heartburn (also have an oesophagus hiatus hernia - probably due to undected CD) - so I avoid it now. Likewise lemonade, cola and strong acidic fruit juices and white wine has the same effect on me.
Thanks for replies. Lynxcat, thank you for the recipe, defo going to try this out, looks easy
