Toothpaste - what do you use for coeliac safe?

Hi, wondering what brands of toothpaste people are using in terms of 'safe for coeliac'. Reading conflicting stuff online, so checking what folk are up to with toothpaste options. Thx in advance.

Hi, Early on when I seemed to react to EVERYTHING, I found I couldn't use normal toothpaste, especially ones with mint for some reason. Can't remember exactly what it did to me now, but think it involved more visits to the bathroom, so now prefer to steer clear just in case. Came across one called Kingfisher, the one with fennel and fluoride is quite nice, and never had a reaction to it.

I use the fluoride free Kingfisher (tried the mint and aloe vera) and had no problems with it.

I avoided fluoride for a few years, thinking that was what I was reacting to, using the fennel fluoride free Kingfisher. However, I found that over time my teeth got a lot more sensitive (gradually, so it wasn't obvious that the lack of fluoride was a key factor). Was advised by the dental hospital to use fluoride because of how sensitive my teeth were. So (warily) I moved over to the fennel with fluoride. Hadn't realised how much fluoride helped eliminate sensitivity. As the saying goes "your mileage may vary", but with hindsight I wish I had tried the fluoride one when I first started using Kingfisher. Just another of the mistakes I have made on the path to improving health! Oh well.

We're all learning Erdfreak, and unfortunately it's by making well meaning errors along the way. I've now got the Kingfisher fennel flouride free and love the taste of it. Wasn't sure what to expect, but very impressed. I will note what you've said about the flouride though. I don't think we have flouride in our water system where I live, so a little bit on toothbrush ever day may not be the end of the world.

Oh, excellent. Thank you. I will check that out.

Because most toothpastes have questionable ingredients, i have been using baking soda with a little peppermint EO for the past 30 years.

Interesting. The old-fashioned method. Good for keeping your teeth white. Does it cause any enamel damage?

None what so ever. I also oil pull with coconut oil with juiced Turmeric and Oregano EO added.

Wow, you're really on it! I admire your committment to getting/staying healthy. I might try out baking soda as well as Kingfisher that people are recommending. The more I unpick the level of toxins that are getting into our bodies on a daily basis from so-called safe products the more I wonder how more people don't get ill. I've ordered some Vitamin B12 from Amazon that is by dropper under the tongue - they claim it is better asbsorbed under the tongue. If we can absorb vitamins in our mouth, what of the chemicals in our toothpastes, never mind any gluten risks.

Like many I can sometimes have sensitivity due to periodontal issues. That along with a whole string of other autoimmune diseases. Forty years ago the dentist had me go on Sensodyne toothpaste with fluoride. After using it twice, the inside of my mouth blistered and peeled. That was a real exciting situation. So, never with the fluoride again. After researching, I started taking 200mg of COQ10 and no more sensitivity. Plus, of course, there are other benefits from COQ10. I also use a water pik.

Personally, I use Kingfisher toothpaste. I find the mint one a little strong, but I love the fennel one. It comes in two versions, one with and one without fluoride. I don’t believe all the hype surrounding fluoride and use the fluoride free one and have for years. I react to all kinds of things and don’t like putting rubbish in my body. There are plenty of articles on line that tell you the truth about fluoride. I even have a reverse osmosis tank which filters out fluoride and other ‘nasties’ out of the water.

Thank you. Seems to be a few people now who use Kingfisher. Have never heard of that brand, but will be checking it out. I try not to drink tap water too often, but still use it for tea/coffee. Is your reverse osmosis filter fitted to your water system or is it like a Britta water filter jug?

You could also have a look at Green People (on line), for toothpastes and other products, all made without the nasties that can often cause problems.

Brilliant. Thank you. I'll check them out.

The reverse osmosis filters are plumbed in under my kitchen sink. There’s 3 separate filters, which need changing every six months.

The Kingfisher brand is really good. I get mine from Amazon and sometimes Holland & Barrett.

Your filter sounds very high tech. Good on you for getting that installed. Bet the health benefits are pretty good. Our water is full of cack that seems to get overlooked.

Yes, you’re right there. My partner knows a fair bit about plumbing and installed it for us, but I don’t think it’s that complicated. We just needed to make space under the sink for it. If you need any details of where we got it, just let me know.

The health benefits have been great, and you’re right, we don’t know what we’re drinking these days.

Brilliant. Thank you.

By the way, the Brittany filter jugs do not filter out fluoride - just in case you didn’t already know.

Thank you!
