Camera that looks into your upper stomach

I had this procedure today and asked to be sedated, they used the spray as well. I woke up halfway through the procedure and was chocking and trying to pull the camera out. A very unpleasant experience and now my throat is extremely sore. If you have this done ask them to make sure they use the right amount of sedation. My friend had this done at a different hospital and doesn't remember anything. That should have been my experience. I am feeling quite angry that they didn't fulfil my wishes. I would not have minded taking a little longer to wake up, would have saved this unpleasant feeling and discomfort I am in now.

What a shame that happened x i had endoscopy and colonoscopy at same time (one after the other) and i can remember being in loads of pain while they were half way round my colon and begged them to stop, it's a traumatic memory for me. My sore throat from endoscopy lasted a very long time....weeks.

Try to focus on the outcome, rather than the procedure.... What were the results ?

This happened to me too!! I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease in 2014. I was sedated and had the throat spray. I was gagging the whole time and sat up and pulled out the tub while 4 nurses were pinning me down. I got told they were so close to taking the biopsy. So I had to lie down and go through it again with the nurses holding me down. But once I was wheeled out and left in recovery I fell asleep. I felt the sedation didnt take effect till after I had it done.

It has scared me for life!!!
